Editor's Note: My edits were all made to keep the video on one, central topic by editing together relevant commentary from many parts of Hasan's streams to create a storyline that is still followable by the viewer. I also edited in commentary of my own in places, in addition to relevant external information that improves the viewing experience. A lot of edits were made for comedy purposes, or to enhance the comedic timing of certain beats, but never to misrepresent Hasan's point of view.

In all honesty I was homeless now that I have section 8 I live in an apartment and they're like oh well you know you should be happy they don't say it but it's their attitude and it's like when I was homeless on the street I wasn't waking up with rodents on me now that I live in an apartment I wake up with rodents on me at least when I was on the street I put my 10 up and even when I didn't have a tent I still didn't have rodents on me it was actually more sanitary living on the streets than living in the s*** holes they put you in. I kill at least a rodent a night and to be honest I'm hoping I can find a job so I can be homeless again in a living out of a car because it will be 10 times nicer living out of a car or a van then living in this s*** hole apartment I know my bird will love it too cuz he gets to look at s*** going by all the f****** time with me so f*** it well where will I put my s*** oh I got it why not in the storage unit that isn't going to cost me f****** $1,500 a month for. In all honesty rentals are such s*** now and because section 8 doesn't hold any of these landlords responsible because they landlords can get with way with whatever the f*** they want it's like literally living out of a storage unit in your car is a cheaper and better option because like I said at least you have control over what you eat and where you live and where you can go and whereas you're confined when you're in the apartment and you're stuck with whatever it is and a lot of the times like I said it's run down extremely unsanitary and even may have tons of pest.

That’s terrible I was once yelled at and banned from a store because I used to go all the time. There was this trans homeless woman and she was so nice and funny. I was only a teen so I didn’t have much to offer to her but I’d sale cans and plastic bottles to this store and buy us some snacks. Well the owner found out and said I was no longer welcomed because he didn’t want her “scaring” off customers. Which was ironic because I would purposely go to that store because she was always beside it (it was next to the local park so she often slept there and left in the day so kids could play) it broke me. She left there and I never got to see her again. I hope she’s doing okay. She had such a vibrant personality and I’d gladly be banned from any store that has an issue with her existing and trying to survive. Edit: and the more I think about it. I’ve always been told to literally give nothing to a homeless person. Give them money and they’ll buy drugs. Give them food or supplies and they’ll sell it for drugs. She was only 19 too. Was kicked out because from what she said. Her parents told her once she was 18 she needed to quit the trans stuff or get out. As soon as she turned 18 they brought it up. She didn’t believe they’d actually chick her out until she was homeless. Even once snuck her in the house to call them and she offered to no longer be transgender but they said no. It was terrible and everyone would be mad at me for even talking to her.

As someone who volunteers, the reason we do this is because about a third (in my city, depends on available medical care) have mental illnesses that can loosen their grip on reality. We speak softly in the beginning because we don’t know you, and violence is not uncommon, especially when people ask for more than you are allowed to give. There are also the volunteers w a “Bless your heart” vibe, but a lot of us will speak normally once we know you.

@@rileystewart3170 it's still condescending, most of the other people I encountered at shelters were just normal regularly folks. It's not like entering an old folks home or a children's hospital, it's adults down on their luck. I understand they mean well, but remember they are just people in a shitty situation and don't need to be talked down to, you can tell who the weird dangerous ones are. I'm a clean cut person that takes care in their appearance, I was in my early 30s, still looked like I was in my younger 20s, and them talking to me like I'm a mentally disturbed weak brained idiot was infuriating. It's probably partly why I'm super cynical these days towards people and society, it's all a fake facade.

Somewhat tangential to this: One really weird thing I notice is that when people travel to Japan they always remark on how there's no homeless people. But... that's just patently untrue. They're everywhere in Japanese cities. But the American desire to render homeless people wholly invisible, especially in their little "oriental paradise" makes it so they just *don't see them*. Just a sort of bizarre extra layer to how people engage with the reality of homelessness in the world.

Local Washintonian here, it was later evening like 5-6ish pm, I got on the rapid ride bus in seattle, and also this homeless person did too, the bus was stopped for five minutes and then suddenly the police came aboard and so quickly the homeless guy stood up and was saying “I’m leaving I’m leaving, I’m sorry thats my bad” and got up and got off the bus. I don’t know fully what happened, but homeless people do try and use the bus, sometimes they pay sometimes they don’t. But public transportation out here is trying to improve and it’s really difficult. I’m a college student and I cant even explain the number of classes that talk about redlining and the local homelessness issues. Like we’re constantly learning about it, I personally want to work with incarcerated individuals getting education because I cannot even explain how many stories I have from how circumstances has put them in the place there at and they need support, not whatever the fork this video is. I’m so insulted to see our local homelessness people get humiliated like this, this is actually just the definition of sickening and if I were one of the people seeing these guys and how there handling homelessness issues I’d be the first to say get the hell out of here, if your not going to help them directly just go. We need productive solutions, not this blatant harassment to these individuals! Homelessness is a word, without home, its not an excuse to use to demoralize them and strip them of decency, even if the individuals arent mentally there

Commoditizing the suffering of others seems to have become the go-to business model of many right-wing 'influencers'. As a lazy, intellectually-bankrupt form of content creation, it appeals to those that revel in the humiliation of the vulnerable...and co-incidentally aligns with the intentions of the oligarchs who fund them. Giving the dissatisfied masses a target for their discontent with society, conveniently distracts attention, while the wealthy continue to loot the economy.

God I hate the discourse around Seattle. 1. The CHOP/CHAZ had little impact on most people’s lives. The city is cut into separate neighborhoods pretty effectively by the geography. So you had to go out of your way to even interact with it if you don’t live there. I work in SLU (non-tech) about a 3 minute drive to capital hill and only once did the protesting actually impact my commute. 2. Jonathan Choe is a fucking clown. 3. The city is stupid expensive. Not just the housing, but all amenities. Unlike LA and NYC where you can find a cheap place to grab a bite, that’s pretty limited here. 4. The people melting down about everything going to shit are mostly people from the suburbs and Jonathan Choe’s bitch ass. 5. Seattle is incredibly beautiful, would recommend visiting at least once. It's a necessary step in the gradual de-humanization of the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged. In 1930's Germany the Nazi's didn't just ship the 'untermenchen' off to the camps, the trains were preceded by a deliberate propaganda campaign, to create a feeling of disgust and vilification towards those deemed a threat to the purity of the Master Race. Constant repetition of this degrading attitude is designed to 'normalize' this behaviour. Slowly ramping up the degree of cruelty, until the notion of transporting 'undesirables' out of sight, will be seen as an inevitable step to restoring the 'safety' of the city streets. An added bonus for TPTB is the fear factor for ordinary citizens who are just a few paychecks away from being homeless themselves. As rents rise, and wages flatline, the fear of losing your home forces workers to accept shittier and shittier working conditions

I was/am a homeless/unstably housed young person living in Seattle. So many housing programs are overly strained and horribly mismanaged. My case manager just quit (another one!) for that very reason. Look into what Melinda Giovengo, the former director of YouthCare did - she got caught getting kickbacks from ICE for selling kids who were staying in their emergency immigration shelter out to them. Her salary was something to the tune of $200,000. She now teaches at Harvard. I know anecdotally that it goes deeper than that. While I was in one of their programs, they didn’t have ANY case managers for over 3 months and needed to shut the entire building down with a week or so notice because they couldn’t retain anybody with their low pay. I'm a retail worker, had an old as dirt lady come in while there was someone outside having some sort of mental episode, long story short the old lady went from openly being like, "Why isn't being crazy a crime?" To, once everyone was just kinda giving her the eyebrow, saying, "Well I feel bad for them, I do, but you told me not to, so..." To our manager, and all our manager said was how she empathizes with them because she has a brother in another city who's also not well mentally. I swear, some people will twist everything up in their head to still keep their position and feel morally righteous, it's so frustrating.

I am terrified of being homeless because I'm on social security. Knowing that the government controls my ability to pay my bills, rent, food, ect, scares me because I know how much conservatives hate people like me. If I wasn't disabled I wouldn't be on social security believe me. I hate it. The anxiety is overwhelming, it doesn't help since mental illness is my disability. I obsess over losing my social security. I fear every day of my life. I'm never at peace.

I'm homeless and I work 40+ hours for $22/hour. I've been lucky enough to have friends that let me stay on their couch, but I've worn out my welcome and will be living in my car in like a week or two. I haven't been able to find a second job because of my hours at my job. I can't afford rent, and even if I could I couldn't afford to move into a place. I've wished that I could just die in my sleep for at least the 6 months that I've been homeless, but also for the year or two that I struggled to avoid becoming homeless.

It's odd that this behavior is so normal in America as someone who has never been able to leave and is scared they'll never have the money to, I'm scared, even just the 2016 election is proof enough that this country hasn't gone anywhere since the beginning, indigenous people are still fighting for their CHILDREN to not be taken, trans people are in late stages of genocide, "conservative" by definition is opposed to change when this country has always needed changing the fact that the first president of this country owned slaves and black people faught for more than a century for freedom and are still fighting. I will never not be radicalized, my parents fight me about how "closed minded" I am because I'm just so against the right wing and the things they continue to push and believe when at this point it harms more than 50% of the population whether they admit it or not, they are fighting for the end of the world. Apparently I treat yt comments like a personal notes app but seriously this is all I can think about lately, even the place I chose to work just a local burger place in WA is completely against my own beliefs and I don't eat their beef because they are still affecting the environment again even if they don't admit it, it's still happening. People are so caught up about the future when looks like we are all causing the end of us. The homeless is just proof of this failing economy and leadership when their is so many empty houses just waiting to be sold or rented whatever it is, it's failing. I try to do my research but I'm still ignorant and am told to not worry about "things I can't control"

Like the audacity of just walking up into someones camp. Its as if they dont even understand the fundamental basics of even camping. Which theyre not. But even camping, you dont wonder into someones camp without an invite, its rude. Its a temp home. But for these people it IS there home. It made me angry ngl just how dehumanising they act to them, for the crime of addiction and homelessness. And as one of the people said, not even to us, but also to the 2 dickhead youtubers, "youre 1 paycheck away from ending up like me"
