Hasbro's Power Rangers Lightning Collection - Dino Thunder White Ranger Unboxing/Review

Күн бұрынFor today's video, we'll be taking a look at Abare Killer... I mean Dino Thunder White Ranger.
Now I know there are a lot of complaints online about his lack of paint on his helmet, but after taking an closer look at him, I can kinda understand why Hasbro decided not to paint it.
It's because of the type of gold paint used on him. It's like a Gold Leaf standard, and that kind of paint apps does not come cheap. In order to have the gold colour to shine, they had to save cost in not adding the black paint on the helmet.
Luckily for us, its an easy fix and there are details on it for you to know where to paint them. If however Hasbro does decide to re-release this figure with a properly painted head, something else has to go in order to keep its price point.

I understand not every detail on these figures can accurately painted for budgetary reasons, but I still think the helmet is the most important part of these figures where you shouldn't skip out on paint. Since the head is one of the major focal points you're going to look at. I'd much rather they not paint the spikes on his boots if it meant we could have the black outline on his visor.

@@IBK_TECHBYTES no harm in trying it out. Get a fine tip marker, and paint on the detail slowly. Mark down so u know where to paint. Then paint the outline of it. After that just fill in the gaps.

Is this for sure the final release version? The amount of missing details makes me think this was a shipment of early factory defects that got sold off instead of just junked.

Wow, they added the paint details under the armor, nice! Maybe that’s where the helmet paint went lmao. Joking aside the figure looks amazing, but the helmet is kind of an issue, but I’m not gonna let that hinder my enjoyment of the figure.

Nice review I'd rather had a dull gold then a helmet with no face. That face should not have been the compromise. I'd lose the human face before losing the paint app. Even Bandai has enough of the face that quite a few wouldn't guess what was missing. The body is perfect. If the helmet was painted this would be a must buy figure for me. But as it is now, this is a severely incomplete product.

So here's the thing, Hasbro doesn't need to worry about quality control or accuracy in this line... because Ranger fans are still buying this stuff. Amusingly the LC figures will the most effort and quality control (beast morphers) ended up being Peg Warmers.

I like your review it's very informative and it goes into a lot of detail about the figure. But I thought Hasbro got way too much credit in the video, sure they painted 90% of the figure but forgot one very important detail the black outline of his visor. I know bandai is known for leaving out paint details but they never left out important details like the helmet, or the chest design. Also with bandai's figures you never took a gamble on them every figure was painted the same and there was never a quality issue with the paint being misaligned in some figures, or the paint fading or smudging in certain areas. I could always buy a Bandai figure with confidence, you knew what to expect when you bought their figures. However with hasbro it's a constant gable because you never know if the figures you're receiving will have a good paint job or if it'd be botched because we don't always have the option of going in store to buy every figure especially if you live outside of the US. So lets not forget some of the stuff bandai did right as well, while I appreciate hasbro's efforts for the human ranger heads and extra weapons, the way they play around with their paint is a huge issue for me.

Great review! Good idea using the Gundam marker to fix the helmet. I have been buying the recent Hasbro Marvel Legends figures and that has made me appreciate their work figures, but Hasbro is starting to tick me off with their lack of paint. There is no reason they couldn't have painted that trim black when there is already black on the helmet. They could have used the same stencil for both parts.

I think the helmet was the last thing to be painted in the factory. The settled the body with fantastic paint, then realized it reached the 19USD budget. Used the extra dollar on the red, and black on the Dragon beak. I honestly think this figure would cost around 25-30Usd from paint apps alone.

Thanks for the review. I will not be buying this. I don't agree with the fact that Hasbro is allowed to cut corners in order to save money on paint apps all while charging us the same amount and expecting us to buy it lmao.

I personally dont think they're cutting corners here tho. They've covered almost all the basis of making this figure great. They painted almost 90% of the figure to its live action counterpart. Sadly... the helmet belongs to the 10% along with the black on the hands and sword and Morpher.

The helmet is the most IMPORTANT part of the figure. Why and I mean WHY would hasbro not add the black paint? It looks so BAD without it. I honestly hope with all this out rage and everyone hating the helmet that they actually add the black paint to it soon in the future

I'm usually pretty forgiving of missing paint applications on these figures. After all, paint is expensive and these are $20 figures. If a few small details have to be skipped to keep them affordable, that's fine. However, this one really bugs me. I just can't look past it, which is a shame, because this is easily my favourite Ranger suit. Having said that though, I'm gradually coming around to to it. That's not to say I'm not still annoyed that they skipped it, but it's not necessarily a complete dealbreaker for me. And who knows, maybe I'll have a go at customising it myself. I've never really customised a figure before, but there's a first time for everything.

I find it weird that we're jumping into Dino Thunder with Trent, but also cool. I'll be super interested to see how long before the rest of the team releases. In the meantime, this figure is simply amazing! Really showcases the reason I'm so proud to collect Lightning Collection figures. Great review as well! Really covered everything in a swift yet precise fashion.

But the Bandai one is also missing some paint on him. 2 stripes of black. Sorry man, the Bandai one isnt on a ball joint and it's a different type of peg. Wouldn't wanna mess that up as it's my only one 😅 Feel free to check out my other reviews too 😁

I was thinking of picking up this figure but the paint around the helmet was making me think it would not be great. But the detail existing there makes me think I should. What type of Gundam marker did you use? Cause I heard the fine tip but I want to be sure of the exact one in case there's small differences before I get this figure that I know all I need to to make the figure look complete. The amount of articulation on these Lightning Collection figures and the amount of paint looks good for the price.

Hey there, if you google GM01(200), that's the one I used. Also, if you're from the US, Hasbro may be able to get you a replacement helmet with the black on the visor painted in 😉

Yeah, I noticed that right off the bat. His helmet looks very incomplete; lacking detail and attention. You'd think Hasbro would've at least done something right when it came to the design of the helmet, but looks like they dropped the ball again.

I still have to believe this is an early release or something. That visor is very disappointing to be honest. It looks like one of those off brand power ranger figures you'd find at like a Dollar Store. Ranting aside, nice paint work. It's crazy how much this figure improves just from that little detail. If it weren't for the helmet, this might have been the first Lightning Collection figure I pick up, as I really love everything else about this figure. Maybe I'll try and paint it too 🤔

I believe I saw on FB that the Legacy head has a different connection, and not a ball joint. So if u do manage to remove it, you're gonna have to start drilling to get it to fit. Hope this helps 😁

muy buena la verdad es una figura que me gustaría tener no sé en qué tienda estará disponible fuera de Eu pero honestamente por errores como esos del visor siendo una figura donde su mercado potencial es el coleccionismo donde nos fijamos en cada detalle hasta ahorita tengo 10 figura y muchas de ellas la verdad presentan detalles en pinturas de manchas pero en lo más importante esta bien para mi esta figura debería estar en un valor más bajo de las normales ya que es una figura en la que yo voy a tener que hacerle la modificacion para dar el aspecto que debe de ser

The helmet was a manufacturing defect. I contacted Hasbro and they're customer support confirmed it and will send you a replacement head at no cost. Second runs will be painted correctly. Heads will ship at the end of September.

Yeah, I heard about that. Sadly, I dont think they ship it overseas and only ship to US or CA 😕 Would be nice tho to get an extra head... oh well 🤷♂️

Did you need to top coat the marker once you used it, or does it not rub off?

No top coat. I think the pen I used dries up and sticks to the plastic. Either that or the plastic of the head actually absorbs the paint in it. 😅

Dino thunder is my favorite season of power rangers and the white range was always my favorite other that Tommy so I will be buying this even if it does come with the black paint cuz I can just add it.

I do model kits, so I have the ability to painting it. Feel really bad for those folks who need to cash out extra just for it to look good. Unfortunate. But still an awesome figure

How do you get the marker to dry and not streak?

For mine, it didnt have a drying issue. I just continue to draw on it, left it as it is, then dab it with a paper towel/tissue paper. Then it dried up after that. There were some areas that weren't dry, so the helmet got smudged. Then I spread it across the helmet to give it a weathering effect.

Really? I thought I was quick enough. And I was going for like a clear n concise type of commentary. Are there any other YTbers commentary style you'd recommend?

@@KiDMtheman I'd personally recommend you go by your own style not Jobby the Hong's (not that there's anything wrong) and be faster, you could make the video less than 14 mins
