West Edmonton Mall's Galaxyland Hasbro Transformation is still underway, with the park undergoing a LOT of construction at this time. But there are some really interesting developments to see at WEM in this Galaxyland October Update!
Including new rides like the Trouble Twist, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Play-Doh, and even the probable return of a ride which has been missing since 2018!

A big part of my childhood died seeing the updated train tunnel. As janky as those animatronics were, those were some of my best memories - especially Cosmo saying "Have a nice day!" on your way back to the station. The boarded up windows scream "tacky budget remodel".

The sadness that this brought when I watched the major changes to what was my childhood is heart tugging, but it makes sense

I found out that they had changed a few rides, i was like “yeah okay that’s cool i guess” but once i found out the whole park was being redone my heart honestly shattered, seeing the train tunnels as they are now and just the iconic space theme disappearing, its like seeing my most favourite childhood memories being removed one by one. I feel as though the new theme is going to result in the park making less money for it will lesser attract its teen-adult attendees.

I'm coming back to Galaxyland in December, and I absolutely loved my last trip, and I can't wait to go again. I'm happy to see these new updates and it makes me smile that the progress of the renovations is continuing strongly

For the most part I’m really excited to see all these updates! Galaxy land really needed a shiny new coat of paint I think overall. But…the tunnel is hopefully just like that temporarily while they do more with it.

Well, the two biggest Hasbro IP after My Little Pony are Transformers and G.I. Joe. I wouldn't mind seeing those! A big ol' Nerf arena would be cool too. And, just sayin', Hasbro also owns Dungeons and Dragons, which would be a great subject for a haunted house or ghost train ride.

Part of me was hoping the train was gonna be transformers themed, with some WFC figures posed in the little displays and a voiceover telling the riders about the battle between the auto bots and decepticons

I’m scared for whether Galaxy Quest is gonna shut down for good or not since I heard that the company that runs Galaxy Quest has been ignoring Galaxyland for quite some time!

Balloon Race and Cosmic Bounce’s new names are actually on the malls website but only if you look very carefully lol (Hint: check the URL’s when clicking on the specific rides). Cosmic Bounce is now Rainbow Bounce and Balloon Race is Flight to Equestria

The problem is that just putting a new name on an old ride without making the ride vehicles actually transform would be kind of a waste!

Galaxyland is going downhill. The tunnels look thrown together just to get it done.

It does look rather hastily thrown together. Some paint and a few laser lights. The original fantasyland one was the best, but at least the Galaxyland one had some theming as well. No matter what they do, it will never be as cool as the original Fantasyland park from the 80’s that I remember so fondly from my childhood.
