LYRICS:
ekki fyrir meira?
-

Fun ESc fact is, it makes artists and it breaks artists.. You can be the most popular artist around and not win, and you will be forgotten for years to come or maybe forever more.. And sometimes, whoever wins, is forgotten the moment after they won..and it is an entirely different artist and tune that makes their mark. This years ESC did a huge service for HATARI.. The whole world talks about HATARI..while, i haven't really heard the actual winner being talked about anywhere. Sincerely, i can't even remember the whole tune. So, that alternate universe actually kinda came true.

You will never hear this kind of music in eurovision again :p. You are from down under? You have the Queen of Industrial Techno dwon there, who doesnt just create remixes and songs, but videos as well. I would LOVE to see her work live. Her name is Brioni Faith. Her music is notwhere near the harsh EBM Hatari delivers. But she is a magician with everything she creates, and a beautiful vampire voice to music that I call soft Industrial, then Techno. The dancers and setting she uses are PURE Industrial. Check her our. I would if I lived down there with you and spiders and stuffs! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/acCgjdKVkqrOg2w.html

Cheap The years slip from you like breadcrumbs tossed in the trash. They pile up on the heaps of broken dreams. You look back and think: Why did I sell myself- so cheap? The nights you have left are numbered. Your life’s a burned-out stub in a whirling ashtray. You look back and think: Why did I sell myself- As your ashes hit your coffin, no one recalls who you were. Nothing’s as banal as a life about to end. You didn’t stick to your guns enough for anyone to care to remember you. What comes next is the pit of black night, and eternal misery in bottomless oblivion. I hide beneath a sheet that the cold has covered. The night stares silently it tells tall tales. The void is approaching, Barelegged, I fight back. I make my dying bed. I make my dying bed. The years slipped from you like breadcrumbs strewn into the trash. They piled up on the heaps of broken dreams. How often did you look back and think: Why did I sell myself- so cheap?

@Fe-go2jw
@Fe-go2jw 2 жыл бұрын
@@rivkab3525 It's kind of hard to translate into a normal sounding English sentence without butchering the poetry. But yeah, directly translated it's "why did I sell myself - not for more?" But that's not really a correct sentence in English. In English you would say "Why did I not sell myself for more" but that kind of ruins the point where they ask "Why did I sell myself". So I think "Why did I sell myself - so cheap" is actually the translation that makes most sense in English.

I guess you can interpret the song in different ways, but personally, I think it's about how excessive consumerism/addictions can lead to fear and regrets in the end. Because if you prioritize materialistic, short term satisfactions over (for instance) loving, long lasting relationships with people, it can leave you feeling nothing but sick and alone in the end... And when you come to think of it, that thought is absolutely terrifying. I think it definitely taps into a general fear most people have. No one wants to die alone and feel like they've wasted their lives on useless things. But it's an important reminder for people to think of what really matters most to them in life.

This song... holy shit, this song. I'm deeply in love with Hatari at this point (will actually see them for the second time live in just a few days), but I just feel this song. That rawness, that "why did I sell myself so cheap", the screams, Klemens' haunting vocals, that last bit where Matthías really goes off and you can really hear the desperation, that wonderful beat that I can hear in my sleep... God, I just feel that no matter how often I listen to this song.

It's so dramatic that it hurts. I get some teenage drama vibes that I can definitely accept in my middle-age crisis. I love this song for the outworldy nostalgia, for the text, for Klemens's angelic voice (and himself reminding me in this video of Igor Sorin - which kinda adds to the drama) and Matthias's desperate screams. Damn, it's my favourite song for now!

ÓDÝR perfectly captures the existential angst that lies within the heart of all of us. It is a voice aware of the passing of time which urges us forward. The Macabe and haunting compliment of choral European singing hints to a time where people in Medieval times looked to a higher power to ease their existential anxiety. The hard synth line gives it a modern dystopian feel, mirrored by many films today and reflected in the visuals. Hatari in my mind through their art, music and message seek to touch upon the deep seated feelings in all of us and show us their vision of a future that could happen if we don't heed their warnings. 'Hate will prevail' is another such example which uses intense performances to anchor into the minds of audiences these themes so that, in our time, in the quite moments in daily life, we can reflect upon these ideas and live our best lives.
