Heartbreaking documentary, I had someone to support me after my accident that left me unable to walk. He has stayed by my side for 30 years, and been my carer for 20 years. I hope thsis young man gets the chance to love someone and grow old with them.. ❤❤

I hope that the standing is a sign that he will continue to regain his mobility but his attacker comparing paralysis to a ten year incarceration makes me even angrier .. He is a treasure to his community and has born his trauma with a quiet strength and integrity that is very inspiring ! I also loved listening to the quire under his tutelage . It is a thing of beauty as is he !

That is so horrible. Wishing him all the best in his life, no one deserves this. I am interested to watch the full doc. This reminds me of a foreign film I watched a while ago, I want to say it was Dutch. It was about a guy who was senselessly attacked and he became paralyzed and the whole movie was him trying to deal with it. He eventually killed himself but I think the point of the sad ending is to drive home how one terrible night can ruin a person's whole world. So devastating

It’s so strongly enigmatic how a simple hate crime can alter the course of one man’s universe. And I know this, because I’ve suffered through it myself. Even some consequences after that can be proven dire. Let your voice be heard, become a survivor from being a victim.
