Well im not the person dissing & ranting Tip "old memory" or "cirriculum more & less on rugby" LOL. & three cheers to Paoras 85 team, 1 true claim to fame. But still, no Maoscar Cup challenge from Paora? or Petera?. In fact only ignorance would rant without knowing the true History of the Maoscar cup & those that fought for it. Maoscar cup is the TRUE pinnacle of Schoolboy rugby. Both Tip & TA. have achieved this GODLY status. & Tips new focus going forward isnt rugby (achieved),its academics.

And as for an old memory, History never forgets Champions, they just dont remember second rate teams, who`ve never tasted Glory. And defeated a true Beast like Wesley, Kelston Boys, Kings College, Auckland Grammer, or Mt Albert Grammer. And to put it blunt. Everything ive mentioned is true.

rant.... count your post e ho! My initial comments about Tip come from an old boy, his sentiments not mine. He sent his son to paora cause tip had closed and those were his comments, he was also in that 85 team. I would celebrate Tip reopening, it was a sad when it closed. Would be another sad day if TA or Paora closed. last time Paora or TA challenged for the national title was in 06 when gizzy won (a kura with mostly maori). all 3 were arguably top 4 quality.

maybe at Tip they should've worried about the cirriculum more and less on rugby and it may still have been open now?? Even Petera is still going.

More education for you. search ---> "Old boys to look at reopening St Stephen's Maori boys school", Te Mano o Tipene Association and the current schools stakeholders are presently considering different education models that will give Maori boys a great academic foundation, because Tip has nothing more to prove on the footy field IMHO. Just hope and dream that maybe one day... a maori boys school will man up and reclaim the Maoscar cup like TIP and TA. :(

And for the record 06 Paora vs TA vs gizzy competition is NOT for the national title, BUT a top Regional placing (Hurricanes region) to compete in top 4 not the other way around. The fact that Paora is not listed on skysports 1st_XV channel is testament of how great TIP, TA, Gissy are, without doubt genuine Top 4 contenders. Any other team not listed on skysports 1st_XV channel is just wishful thinking, and fantasy.

At the end of the day its hard to imagine any school matching tips record and i doubt paora ever will, But when last i checked, Paora is still open and the one and only time they played tip they beat them. again if that offends you arohamai its not the intention.

also your obviously te tangata mohio wit school rugby, and soak up knowledge. so just some extra facts for you, even when Paora were good enough to challenge for top 4 (the last good year i remember was 91) the marist brotherhood would never let them. maoritanga and education have always been the priority for paora. i know tip won in 91, i played senior rugby with fallas from that team. i'm sure our first would have beaten them and TA that year?.

Your intial COMMENTS are clearly very negative of Tip and its achievements, "cirriculum more & less on rugby" Agreed TA, TIP, and Gizzy, are Maoscar cup winners and top 4. Not Paora or Petera. 06 Maoscar cup was held by Chch boys High not Gizzy which only made top 4 in 07, so couldn`t be much of a challenge aye! do your research (cite: Gisborne Boys’ High School: Playing Record: 1970-2013). 85 team though beating tipene would have been great never be recognised in the big scheme of things.

But let's agree.Not all Te Aute , Tipene , Hato Paora or Hato Petera were apart of these teams and contributed to rugby in their own communities.We all didn't peak at rugby in high school lol

NO IDEA? let me tell you then you can go and educate yourself and research it. The correct answer is NEVER! Petera or Paora have never made top 4 or won the Moascar Cup. Tipene is Immortalized on New Zealand Secondary schools most prestigious Award. Accomplished multiple times and is and always WILL be archived on skysports 1stxv rugby channel. Epic battles of Tip beating Wesley whos forwards weighed heavier than the ABs IMHO-Maori schoolboy rugby changed when juggernaut Tip closed its door.

Sad too say but Te Aute with under 100 students is now as good as Hato Paora ever has been, sob sob sob - It use to be H.P who? Never beat the Te Aute V Tipene traditionals that was the real deal, 2 N.Z top 10 schools year in year out !!! - Dont hate it's only the truth.
