This is a sedimentary terrain in Rift-Valley where sediments have been deposited in cracks many millions of years ago. When rain water is in contact with those sediments, it removes and carries away the loose soil. Thereafter, the substratum falls down. To fight that kind of rain water erosion phenomenon, it requires to combine the following mesures: - to reduce the speed of the rain water flowing on the terrain - to reduce to the strict minimum the concentration of the rain water on the affected area - to mound the crack N.B.: These mesures don't aim to resolve the issue of the Rift-Valley splitting because no human being can't stop that natural phenomenon.

This area lies of the Great Rift valley fault line. It's not about soil erosion.

It appears to me that there have been small earth movements occurring over the years, and the only thing that these heavy rains have done is wash away the loose top soil to expose the cracks that have been forming. These people will have to move sooner or later because this is a natural process that can't be stopped.

Weak loamy soil substratum in Nakuru is to blame. Those residing in hilly places are not safe coz of the heavy run off which in fault line areas..
