In our interview with Drew, he gave us as much advice into haunting acting and developing your character as he could possibly think of. Here are some more important tips for acting in a haunted house that didn’t exactly fit into his other videos.

I auditioned for a Haunt near me and used some of your videos to train myself and I am happy to say that I got in! I am in a dollhouse! I can not wait! Just wanted to say thank you for posting videos like these. They really help!

I used to be a haunt actor. I did it for four years and I enjoyed it. But I can honestly say that I wasn't good at it. In fact, I was quite terrible at it. Barely got any scares, and the guests just weren't entertained by me. The best thing I can say about my time as a haunt actor was that I was a hard worker. I did my best, even if it wasn't good enough for the haunts.

I'm 62 and I've been a haunt actor since the age of 15. What's always worked best for me is maintaining eye contact with the customer when they're in your scene. Also, try your best to give off an air of "you are SO screwed" without actually saying so.

I'm gonna be at my local Halloween Run as Scare actor Ghostface from the 2022 movie so these tips are pretty good.

I go as ghostface at a hauntned hayride every year, I always hide some where then runn at the trrailr then jump on it at the last second when the sectionn is about to end

Im a young teen and cant do much things for scare acting. But its my favorite thing to do. So on friday I am gonna be doing the closest thing I can do to scare acting. I am volunteering at a halloween event for a thing im in!

I've never subscribed to the 'if you can't get the scare, get the laugh' strategy. Customers go to a haunt to get scared, not to see a comedy show. And most people just aren't funny. They think they're being funny but it's usually just cringeworthy. Unfortunately, most scare actors are terrible and have no idea what they're doing. Most either just smile and laugh, scream in your face, or just stand there like they're not sure why they're even there.

2 questions WHY DO THE WORKERS HAVE AN ATTITUDE? 😐 , Also why did they target me and say “get the girl with the grey sweatshirt “ was it bc i was terrified?also if at 13th gate they got to close to me so ima swing on u

Normally if you’re the most scared out of your group, actors tend to target those who are the most scared cause that’s just personal fun and something they’d want to brag about. The attitude? I don’t know why attitude would be a thing unless someone was being mean, they were having a bad day, etc. Whatever the situation, normally the actors shouldn’t have an attitude to customers, no matter the reason. (There are some exceptions)

So when you go into a haunt, You are told the rules. If they get "too close to you" It's their Job. Go ahead and swing at an actor and watch them pull you out of the group and ban you from the haunt while your friends have fun without you. You go there expecting to be scared, entertained, talked to, nagged at. If you aren't scared an actor will move on to someone else or try to entertain you by making jokes or non racist but potentially mean comments. It's not personal, They've already forgotten you by the time you leave the room. Unless their character has an attitude (grumpy undead lunch lady for example) Then yeah, They are gonna sound rude because it's part of their job. Haunt actors are not just trying to scare people. They. Are. ACTORS.
