Very nice. I have always wondered how dambun shikafa is made. I have a suggestion, next time try using the moringa (zogale) as is without soaking it or cooking it or steaming it. Like from freshly plucked, to rinsing to pot directly. Add it when you add the rice cous-cous with the vegetables. That way, you'll get even more benefits of the moringa leaves. And the aroma of the leaves is beautiful when slightly steamed with the cous-cous as opposed to cooking and squeeezing the goodness out. Thanks for this recipe.

Hello greetings from Turkiye. I made this recipe for my boyfriend yesterday. It turned out pretty good for a first try. I didn't have some supplies. For example, I used bulghur. There was no red onion, I used white onions. First time seeing Moringa. so I used parsley instead. thanks for teaching me. I would be very happy if you share the Niger-Hausa recipes. Kindly note: It would be much better if you write down the ingredients and measurements used in your recipes. Much love 🇳🇪🇹🇷🇳🇪🇹🇷🇳🇪🇹🇷🇳🇪🇹🇷🇳🇪

Hi, I'm from Brazil, in my city (Salvador from Bahia) there are several descendants of Africans, of various African ethnicities, including Hausa, although we don't know today which ethnic group we belong to, there is a food called 'Arroz de hauçá' here : ' Rice of Hausa' , it is rice cooked in coconut milk, with dried meat and shrimp, pepper, onion, sautéed in palm oil, around and over the rice, then molded in the shape of cuscus, I would like to know if there is any hausa food like that? , Pic dcom-prod.imgix.net/files/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/1528898408-arroz-_hauca_616x462.jpg

The dish looks delicious, however, I can’t pinpoint the Hausa dish it may have originated from. The Hausa tribe can be found in many regions around West Africa so while we live very similarly, our dishes vary due to the influence from other tribes around us, or the types of food readily available in the region. I think for this dish, a combination of Hausa people from the different regions might have each contributed to it’s creation because while I recognize many Hausa food staples from my region (Nigeria), some other ingredients used and the over all final dish is not too commonly found here.

@@lovelylittlegirl3332 Thanks for the info ,There are many types of cuscus here in Brazil too and one of them is Rice cuscus, But a little different done, i think the "rice of hausa" was a mixture of hausa +youruba+igbo, here , the presentation of the"rice of hausa" varies a lot too.

Polcsqr Amak you can crush Basmati rice or white rice to make it. The only rice I won’t recommend is fire boiled rice or sticky rice. Fire boiled is very hard, and sticky will not let it be fluffy. Let me know how it came out for you. I think I need to make an updated danbu recipe on how to crush the rice yourself.

It’s a normal white rice like jasmine. You can use any kind of rice. If it hard you need to suck it in the water longer yo get soft.
