Hauser type 241 pivot polisher / burnisher for clock pivots

I had picked this Hauser pivot burnisher / polisher up several years ago. I thought it would be a easy deal to get it running with its 3 phase motor. Taking it to the local experts, spending a bunch of cash, and being rather disappointed, recently a customer visiting my shop thought he would have the answer. Me, being a absolute dunce about electrical things cannot properly explain the issues, thought it had something to do with this Swiss machine originally running on 50hz....I think...and the phase pack I paid for was under powered for start up. Low and behold he did have the answer and the machine is now running, still a small glitch but satisfactory. I did not want to change the machines motor so I am very happy with how it works and keeping it original. I use it for polishing / burnishing clock wheel pivots in my clock shop.

Born Again Clocks - I’m an amateur tinkerer/inventor. KZfaq is my most recent drug of choice and I spend waaay too much time watching others do what I could be doing. My taste in videos is eclectic but largely mechanical topics. I wish I had a lathe and a milling machine but I have no real need that would justify the costs and the space they would take up. I do have a fairly well equipped wood shop. I arrived at your page via MrPete222. He’s doing a series on mystery tools and he put up picture of headstock portion of a tool like the one in this video and said What is it.. One of his viewers did some research and pointed us to this video to see it in action. I plan to check your other videos. I’m sure I will find more things I will love to watch.

William, Don't know if you have the motor issue solved by the time I write this, but a solution is cheap and easy. Buy ye a VFD (variable frequency drive) on the ebays. Use that as mono to three phase converter and Bob's your uncle! (well.... ) Should cost you about a 100 to 150 US dollar. You take to a repital motor shopand get it wound mostly 220 single phase I use to work for Baldor and they would do this on motors that they built oem now abb. I not sure that they would. There most likely a small shop by you Mach sure to check out if the a reliable braum in e.stl il use to be good
