Haute City Center formerly Honey Creek Mall is a mall in Terre Haute, Indiana.
The mall has been owned by Out of the Box Ventures, a subsidiary of Lionheart Capital since 2019. The mall opened in 1968 as Honey Creek Square. The complex was expanded in 1973 and 1981, and was renovated in 1992 and 2007. The center was renamed to Honey Creek Mall at the time of the 1992 renovation. In 1999, a management contract for the mall was awarded to Trammell Crow Faison Regional Mall Services, a unit of Trammell Crow Co. of Dallas. The mall was then purchased by CBL & Associates Properties in 2004.
The mall's anchor stores are JCPenney and Vendors Village. There are 2 vacant anchor stores that were once Macy's and Sears. Vendors Village opened in the former Carson's space in November 2018.
The southern anchor building was originally Root Dry Goods, which was converted to L. S. Ayres in 1998 and Macy's in 2006. Carson's opened as Meis a store which re-located from downtown Terre Haute, and was later Elder-Beerman.
In 1983, the city of Terre Haute annexed the land on which the mall was situated.
On January 3, 2018, Macy's announced that they would close their store at the mall. This store closed in March 2018. In April 2018, Carson's parent company Bon-Ton filed for bankruptcy and closed all of its stores. In October 2018, Sears Holdings filed for bankruptcy and announced the closure of 142 stores including the unit at Honey Creek Mall which left JCPenney as the only traditional anchor left.
A Vendor's Village store opened in the former Carson's space in November 2018
The mall was renamed to Haute City Center on December 16, 2019.

Omg this just makes me so sad growing up I grew up in that mall! It used to be the place to be on Saturdays. It's been there as long as I've been alive.

Sometimes I can get lucky with finding them on KZfaq. Obviously I'd try to go for an older one with the former name. I think it's wild I was even able to find old ones for that Budapest mall lol.

Great video, stopped here while passing through Terre Haute on a road trip. Hit the pinball spot and loved the flea market as an added bonus. The brutalist architecture of the former Macy's is really a sight to behold. Makes sense it was built as an independent store brand originally.

They use to have suncoast in that mall, where you could buy DVDs and vhs along time ago and they also had a spot where the arcades were as well but then they moved those somewhere inside the mall but that was along time ago and idk if they even have the arcades in that mall anymore, bc I haven’t been to Terre haute in along time……

Mall used to be great, now all the stores are out of business and leaving. It's pretty much dead.

every time a store sells something. The owners up their rent. So in making it physically impossible to stay in business. Thus dead mall and still drowning. Food for thought.

I live about 10 minutes from this wall and go on a mall walk almost every werkend (cool in the summer and warm in the winter). The former Macys has been a Spirit Halloween 4 years running now. Last year they actually left some of their stock in the back as they knew theyd be back the next year 😂 Also, it will always be "honey Creek mall" to us locals. I know 0 people who've switched to the clunky "Haute city center" name

Nice looking mall, I’ve always wondered this place. Looks like it’s starting to struggle.

Yeah it seems like a lesser known mall. I respect the owners though, having some really unique stores and tenants probably helps a lot with the struggles faced. I think even making an anchor store into a flea market is probably a good idea for building use.

Back in the 80s and 90s this mall was bustling. But like most malls around this country, they're pretty much done. Much love from Texas. 🤠🙏💛☯️🌞

Still looks like a nice clean mall. Sad what the Internet has done to the malls; they were my happy place for shopping when I was a young wife and mom in 70’s and 80’s. I was born in Terre Haute in 1944 and spent much of my youth there until I married in 1968, the year Honeycreek opened. I’ve lived all over the country, but Terre Haute will always hold a special place in my heart. Thanks for the nice tour!
