Hawa Mahal, or the "Palace of Winds," is an iconic architectural marvel located in the heart of Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, India. Commissioned in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, this five-story palace stands as a testament to the rich cultural heritage and exquisite craftsmanship of the bygone era.
Designed by Lal Chand Ustad, Hawa Mahal is renowned for its unique façade adorned with 953 small windows, or "jharokhas," intricately carved from pink sandstone.
