@@Dorotii3107 Thank You for doing this. It means a lot. I've forgotten a lot of movie going experiences, but not that one. I went on a trip to Key West years ago, and I had to find the small beach front stretch of highway at the end of the film. The funny thing was that on my way down I stopped in Key Largo for the night at a small resort hotel, and out back -roped off- they had the small boat from On Golden Pond, for which Dave Grusin also did the music. The coincidence was not lost on me. I'm glad to know that someone else cherishes this film. Thanks again.

On Golden Pond! I remember this movie. Wonderful but I watched it only one time. I love old movies. They had a specyfic climate. I’m sorry for my english but I very rare use it, And I Know That it’s not perfect. Greetings to You. The Best wishes. 🙂

The greatest love movie of all time, especially when Roberta touches the bandage on Jack' s arm and knows he had the diamond removed to purchase her husband's release! So well done by both actors: no spoken word, just the touch and realisation!

@@charlessomerset9754 It's been so long. I don't remember except I know some of them were street scenes, shot by a Cuban director. They were smuggled into the film via the claim that they'd been 'found' in a vault somewhere and that 'old' footage just happened to fill the bill.

+lebarosky Yes. Sidney Pollack brought the right elements together for a monumental work of cinemagraphic art. The cast was outstanding and so was the music of Dave Rayfiel. The editing work by Fredric and William Steinkamp was indispensable. But what made the film, in my opinion, were the story and screenplay by Judith Rascoe, with the help of Pollack regular David Rayfiel. I think Rascoe was responsible for the final monologue.

So many echoes of Casablanca, and at least as good a film imv. Redford is at his best and Olin is mesmerising. Don't think I've ever been so moved by such feminine beauty.

Judith Rascoe, who created the story and wrote the screenplay and most of the dialogue for the movie, is also a competent poet. She has written a lot for television sitcoms just to make ends meet. I've had the privilege of reading a book of her poetry and can understand why the epilogue with Robert Redford portraying Jack Weil on the beach at Key West was so great. The character who played Bobby Duran's husband in the movie was named "Arturo", which should give you a clue (and there are others) that the story was an updating of the Arthurian romance, with its theme of selfless valor and unalloyed love.
