What are we doing to solve the day to day struggle of peoples of African descent in the USA? Take the critical issue of obesity. Have pastors sought out help and direction for their parishioners in dealing with the issue of diabetes and obesity? I would like to draw attention to new ideas on that front. In particular Dr. Jason Fung solution to both problems. He is a nephrologist (kidney specialist) who has come to the conclusion through through great scholarship that FASTING is the answer. His is a medical conclusion, not a religious one. But I can see that most religions have FASTING as something they advise, except Christianity, generally. If religious leaders listen to their parishioners, they would hear the fear and in fact see the evidence daily. Is it asking too much of Leaders in the church to set up committees around the issue and establish ways to bring their people into good health? God does not mind waiting longer to great your members into heaven. Help them.

The Abrahamic religions are widely practices in the black communities but is no longer needed. It did once offer a connection before, during and after slavery. However, in the 21st century, science has done more to root out stereotypes, bigotry and hatred. Science is king. We now know there is only one race and that is the human species. Race categories is simply a social construct (man made). Evolution has taken us deep into our past to know where we evolved. We know how the universe was formed and that a person who is gay is just as natural as a person who is straight. We know now that we are made of the same composition of that which is in stars. We have moved beyond myths and fallacies. It is a hard pill to swallow but one that would both serve to place mankind in the appropriate mindset for the 21st century. Man has always help on to outdated and ill conceived notions and thoughts based on their passions and lower self. And that is damaging the planet and basic interaction. Spirituality can used to build the person instead of dogma. Religions carry with it outdated prejudice. Education is not sought after as it should. It is rooted in the black community to have a faith in god first and education later. In fact, the opposite should occur to build the community as a whole. The thirst for academic knowledge is not sought after. Science can do more to help the black community than religion ever could. The holy books are an assortment of stories that have never been rooted in scientific fact or historical truth. Historians have been saying it for some time. Many of the stories are duplicates of stories from the likes of Gilgamesh, etc. The religious find it laughable to think of Greek mythology and the like as a religion though many of its own tenets are steeped in unbelievable smoke screens.
