@@TheMidWestWarriors yup. I think you hit it on the nose with that idea. I've watched tons of diving stuff over the years out of a deep desire to become certified and to go diving myself, unfortunately its a dream that will probably never happen. Never had enough money or local availability to do it. That aside, even shows that try to put in a feeling of desperation or excitement still ALWAYS emphasize safety.....especially in cave diving. So whatever their reason, it seems a bit irresponsible......but I suppose I have no grounds for judging the situation. Thanx so much for the reply and noticing it too. Blessings my friend! Have a good life!

To the guys at Quest, look up the Mimic Octopus and reconsider the Lusca's appearance in passing glances, a Giant Octopus swimming could Look like a Shark-squid and there's also the fact that you can Identify a octopus' den by the Litter outside, such as discarded shells and such. Now think about the Litter a Giant Octopus might leave outside a Blue hole, shipwrecks and such. They have Beaks like squid do and Crushing Power in those, just saying....

Most likely divers that disappear aren’t following safety protocol and end up getting lost due to the silt. When their equipment fails, they then become prey for scavengers.

Most diver deaths are caused by the diver misjudging depth and distance. They get into situations that they had no chance of doing safely.

I recall a few years ago watching a short series ( 4 episodes) where a professional diver explored different dive sites, one per episode, including a site notorious for diver deaths. There was a legend attached to it that young men were being lured to their deaths by a beautiful girl, either a sea monster living in this cave, or a ghost of a drowned girl- I can't remember which, now. The dive site was stunningly beautiful which, ironically, contributed to the deaths. In the end, no mysterious woman was needed to explain how otherwise experienced divers ended up drowning. Part of the issue was the beauty of the cavern, and the clarity of the water, and, in particular, a spectacular underwater arch that attracted attention. This arch was, in fact, far deeper underwater than it appeared to be: coupled with the fact that the deeper a diver goes, the less air time they have due to water pressure compressing their air supply. The programme did go into this factor in detail, but sadly, both the passage of years and my lack of physics knowledge means I can't recall it. What I do recall clearly is that, despite knowing that the arch was down too deep, and that his air was becoming critically low, the diver still felt drawn to explore the arch, and had to fight that temptation with all his strength and return to the surface. So, even fully trained, highly experienced divers can find themselves getting into trouble. Disorientation, and an inability to judge distance and depth underwater, is extremely dangerous even when the water is crystal clear. Stir up silt, and suddenly the one thing you had to keep orientated, the visibility, is cut to zero, and you could end up swimming down when you thought you were swimming up. And by the time you realise your error, you'd be almost out of oxygen... if you hadn't run out already!

Sharks leave a bloody mess behind and those caves are connected by narrow caverns and fissures. The only thing that can take a person like that without a trace is probably a large octopus or squid. The former will grow large enough if it cannot or won't mate for whatever reason. Shark headed squid. Ya right, good ol history channel.

It may LOOK LIKE a cross between a shark and squid. But be a cryptid belonging to the cephalopod family. The Dumbo octopus has two fins on its head that look like ears. Perhaps the Lusca has 3 pairs or some strange configuration of extra fins or appendages or some other unusual adaptation.
