@@carchaps “Underbraked”? You’ve got to be kidding. Do you mean that the pedal effort is too high for you? One of the greatest misconceptions is that fitting bigger discs or more powerful calipers will improve braking distances. All modern brakes are powerful enough to lock a wheel. The only way to *significantly* improve braking (given that the discs, pads and hydraulics are in good condition) is to fit better tyres with higher grip as this determines the force available to retard the car. So why do performance cars have larger discs? The car’s kinetic energy is converted to heat energy and larger discs are better able to dissipate that energy under repeated heavy braking, something that road cars rarely need to do. You should also have the engine checked for bore scoring, an issue more prevalent on the S model 987.1 than the non-S.

Have to agree here. The brakes out of all things what about the springs corroding ? Control arms , koffin arms , tracking forks , front coolant lines leaking , exhaust studs broken causing the flange to be open ? What about checking oil , plugs , coils , front subframe , waterpump , thermostat much more then brakes and surface rust! Never seen someone so bad and yet they take the E39 M5 to this guy 😂 I wouldn’t trust this guy to know what he’s talking about with any car. Thank god I know what I’m doing 😄 I feel sorry for people like this who have no clue about cars and rely on garages like this who specialise in everything usually it means they specialise in nothing and make no income so have no choice but to do all cars otherwise they would have no buisness which shows having a single 2 post lift can’t be that busy 🤣 These guys are just your average guys buy a car have no clue how to turn a spanner like most of them on KZfaq they only can drive a car and then s**t themselves when they hear a noise on the car or complain they can’t afford it. We see enough of them daily big expensive cars but can’t turn a wrench that’s why they ain’t worth watching as you can’t take someone seriously about a car who knows nothing about the mechanicals as everyone’s driving experience is different but the mechanicals and engine isn’t.

@@BMWDoctor BMW ‘Doctor’. Sorry to hear you don’t like our content and while it’s a shame, we know we can’t please everyone. As you can probably tell by our road test criteria being things such as ‘can you exfiltrate a prime minister in an assassination attempt’ and ‘can you do your makeup in the back of an M5’ we are aiming more for the entertainment side of the videos rather than instructional/informational. In the two years of owning my M5 I’ve thoroughly enjoyed going from never taking a wheel off to being able to change my rocker cover gaskets or repair a brake line (things up until recently, I never thought I’d be able to do myself). There are so many channels with more experienced people doing in depth videos that it seems kind of pointless us doing them. While I’d personally watch E39 source or M539 restorations, I do applaud you for taking the time to make videos that help and educate people working on their own cars. Sometimes writing long negative comment essays on KZfaq can make you feel better in the short term, but maybe take the time to think about whether it achieves anything??? This video was 15mins of time donated to us after my M5 was worked on so I’m not sure what you think could’ve been achieved in that short time apart from a quick glaze over ? Perhaps book in with them before you berate someone’s business with no real knowledge or experience of them. Personally it’s the most transparent and honest garage I’ve had the experience of using and his BMW knowledge is extensive. Hope you have a great day and thanks for interacting with us !
