I personally wish a little more updated research would've gone into this video. It's mentioned several times something along the lines of "I have hard times recommending logitech because romer-g" but romer-g switches have not been in logitech's mechanical keyboard releases in like...a while. They've been using just normal standard mechanical switches for a few years now, so I think it's unfair to continue to bring up something that hasn't been in their new product lineups for a while now

The cable is not short as a MX master 3 user (over 10h daily for gaming as well) i can tell you that you need to charge this mouse once every 2 months for about an hour, with a 10% warning it still lasts a week so for that 1 hour you can put up with it or just connect it to a monitor or something that is closer to the mouse.

the reason the mx stuff needs to be powered on when plugged in is because the port is just charging, they only use wireless, and that might be annoying, but in the years i've hav with the mx keyboard, with the old logi unifying receiver and the mx master 3, then with the mx keys mini and the newest logitech m650 (which also has silent clicks) witht he new logi bolt, never had issues with them.

Unifying dongles have been around for a while. I used to work in desktop support and we had extra ones around to just pair with any logitech keyboard when a user lost their dongle again. It even works with their cheapo keyboards and you can even reflash the firmware on them. Good stuff.
@daveweinstein5044
@daveweinstein5044 2 жыл бұрын
But it's time we had a USB-C version as well! Why has Logitech dragged their feet for so long offering USB-C? It isn't like they'd need to change the unify chip inside the receiver, the USB-C connector is backward compatible to USB-A signalling, and there's nothing electrical that needs to be changed with the receiver to do this.
@glebokator740
@glebokator740 2 жыл бұрын
@@daveweinstein5044 I think the main problem is that all of the internal components of this USB-A adapter are literally inside the USB connector (I am talking about that plastic half of the USB connector which prevents inserting it the wrong way), there is almost nothing inside that black outer housing. Putting these components inside a USB-C connector is not possible because there is no space and manufacturers would have to make the outer case much larger, which means that it will stick out too much.
@danielka3583
@danielka3583 2 жыл бұрын
@@daveweinstein5044 yeah, usb-c version would be nice, but like @glebokator mentioned, it would need to be a little larger. I would even suggest to have em built into some laptops, but honestly having the little dongles is great when you have stationary keyboards that people connect their various machines to. E.g. meeting rooms or in my case lab environments.
@daveweinstein5044
@daveweinstein5044 2 жыл бұрын
@@danielka3583 @glebokator I haven't looked inside a Unify adapter in a long time, but even years ago the chip wasn't that big, and you'd be surprised at how little space there is around the USB-A edge connector that you could use. I'm guessing that newer iterations of the chip have been reduced in size (as a well as super-integrated with what used to be external components) as part of cost reduction measures. That, plus the fact that Logitech are masters of industrial design, should make it possible to make a newer USB-C version that is as small as possible.

Cheapest ones do not have Unify dongle, just some one-off basic one. My problem is that in my corner in my flat I have constant issues -> the frequency is shared with bunch of stuff like headphones, garage openers, car keys etc. and somehow something is completely screwing up the signal. Only solution is to use bluetooth.

The 3S is the first wireless mouse I've used and it was totally painless to install using the included dongle. The magspeed scrollwheel makes it super convienient navigate long webpages and the sidescroll is great to use as a volume control. would have liked a full review, this feels more like a quick unboxing :) Does the Keyboard remain in bluetooth mode while connected via Usb, or does it then act like a real wired model? If you are using keyboard and mouse together, does the mouse also switch PCs if you switch the keyboard connection via these 3 pairing keys? Infos like if its actually practical using it with a mac? Any other minor things like why is there no print button? Is the back light evenly spread out, or still kinda spotty, so some areas appear brighter than others? Does the light go to sleep when the keyboard is not used? As I have no idea about switches what can i expect with that cherry brown feel to the tactical one? Maybe some comparisons, like a close up shot comparing this slim cap design to a full height one, just to get an idea. Also maybe a bit too individual and personal preference, but coming from mainly using onboard laptop keys, Macbook and Dell XPS whats the version to go with, tactical or linear? And finally doesnt it collect dust like crazy? I imagine it getting dusty very quickly, whereas on non low-profile designed mechinal keyboards the dust would vanish between the caps, so you at least dont have to look at it :)

I gave the Master 2S and 3 a try.. even for a so-called multimedia and work mouse, I couldn't get used to the polling rate. Ergonomically speaking I expected a lot more, too. The high-spot where your palm rests is way too pointy for my taste. The features are definitely nice. Wish it had 1000 Hz polling and a more rounded shape (like a mix between it and the MX518). Positioning of the side-buttons and horizontal scroll wheel aren't perfect either. Gotta give it a few more iterations I guess. 8000 DPI with 125 Hz? Lmfao

The polling rate is my only major complaint about my 2S. It's totally fine for everyday work on my laptop, but I CANNOT use it for games. Not because it's uncomfortable or lack of side buttons, but because a polling rate lower than your refresh rate (165Hz monitor) literally means stale frames. It causes some FPSs to seemingly micro-stutter, but it's literally just because every ~4th frame registers as no mouse movement...

Yup, and when you re doing PS/AI work and need to do micro adjustments it just sucks. You literally see mouse skipping pixels. But I am kinda over it because infinity scroll, side scroll and thumb button are so deeply incorporated in my workflow so much that I cant even do work without them. My 2S had thumb button stuck and therefore stopped working and I used wired 1000Hz Steelseries mouse, and OMG, the difference is so noticeable. But on the other hand, the amount of manual work I had to do due to lack of extra buttons was huge. It's a shame, Id be happy to sacrifice battery life for higher polling rate.

I've used the MX Master 1 mouse by Logi for 6 years. They have tons of features, but the moment you start using it day to day, problems emerge. Within the first 2 weeks of buying the mouse, the vertical scroll wheel got stuck in freespin mode. I had to open the mouse up and repair it, then set it to rachet mode permanently to prevent it from getting stuck again. I few weeks later, I noticed the bluetooth connection is sketchy, to the point where your cursor is stuttering all over your screen. I fixed that by using the USB dongle it comes with rather than bluetooth. Fast forward to today, when I kid you not 10 minutes ago my mouse is no longer able to move the cursor, but the buttons still work. A quick google reveals that the thumb button is now permanently stuck in the activated position. So now I need to open the mouse up again, and fix the thumb button. ALSO, the Logi Options app which allows you to disable freespin us really buggy. You need that app to disable freespin. Without it, the mouse immediately reverts back to enabling freespin. Do not get this mouse, all the MX Master models have similar issues. Find something else.

My requirements were bluetooth, USB-C, and rechargeable. So far I like it, the shape is different from what I'm used to but the thumb wheel is fantastic for the systems and spreadsheets I work in. My only issue so far has been the software. The "global" settings I've setup have not transferred over to the designated programs like they should have. Well, the point of this channel is unboxing,whuch us usually done without much prep to capture the initial reaction. Also, I too can't wait for the Lab to start churning out videos.

those switches look a lot like the kailh choc v2's. The v1's and v3's use a unique mounting style, but iirc the v2's used that kind of mx mounting stem with the round peg

I hope they do a USB-C logibolt soon. Logitech is always behind on the connector types...

I just really wish their new mx master had onboard storage. Its really a dealbreaker for me not being able to permanently disable their “smart” scrolling without installing their software (can’t install the software on every pc I switch between)

It's really surprising how much a little thing like onboard memory matters once you've used a device that has it, it's _really_ hard to go back to devices that require you set them up on every PC you connect them to.

Thanks for the insight! You just saved me from buying the Master 3S, now trying to get G604 instead. I connect to other people's PCs often so this an essential feature really.

I hate the flat profile so I swapped out the keycaps for the Razer phantom keycaps for both the profile and texture. I can partially recommend this but you need to lube the stems slightly and be ready for a bit of wobble. I may attempt to mod this in some way to improve the switch design but really for the cost, its worth it to just swapped out the keycaps.

I can't live without the freescroll wheel for work so I just bought the 3s. I'll probably suck it up and by the full sized keyboard. Picked up a second bolt receiver so I can just swap via the mouse button between my work and personal machines. Not allowed to install the software or use bluetooth on my work machine so this really is a great solution to use one set of peripherals across multiple machines. I do like that the hardware needs to be paired with the bolts.

Had an original MX Master since last October and charged it twice in that time (and unlike Apple, it charges perfectly fine whilst plugged in.)

Why does the „I hate Wireless Tech“-Host unbox Wireless Tech? Too much negativity from the start imo.

This was a very good review, thank you. Based the feature set, this review, prior experience, and a nice sale price for the large and 3S mouse bundle, I just bought the pair. We will see how it goes.

It'd be rad to see a shortcircuit on Tilt Five and/or similar 'hologram' interactive technologies! I keep seeing advertisements and they've almost sold me.

I'm still amazed how much positive feedback the MX Master 3 mouse gets. It really is an amazing mouse and I 100% recommend it. So worth the price! My only complaints are: Horizontal scrolling doesn't always work as it should. Adding some apps for custom profiles isn't as easy as I wish it were.

I felt that they were being a bit negative with the whole review. They complained about the cable size when it was an average if not usable size. They complained about it being wireless because they "fear" that one day it'll go wrong??? Or are the mouse clicks not being "perfect"? I don't know.

the problem with logi bolt is that it interferes with unifying, so you have to use either bolt or unifying or otherwise both are hampering eachother.

It would be interesting to see a direct comparison of the MX Mechanical with an equivalent Keychron.
