I barely wore skirts for a reason: wide hips. I was very much an early bloomer, and those A-line skirts would legit just ride up throughout the day. By year 11, I would just say "I have these things called HIPS!" 😂

In eleventh grade I just wore the boys uniform and refused to change. I had to ride a bike to school (and skirts and bikes don't go well together), the biggest female shoe size they had was still too small and I kept getting in trouble because the female shirts did not match my anatomy at all and even the largest size was too short and my stomach kept peeking out. I was DONE with my uniform and after experiencing the freedom of pants, feet that aren't constantly cramping and a shirt that actually fits I never looked back.

As a teacher, i know for a fact neither of them would do anything but give me a death stare and shrug and walk past me without uttering a word.

My yr 11 group just didn't care. We were all friends/friendly, so if one girl got into trouble for having a short skirt, we would all get in a circle and make our skirts the same length as hers. They can give a few detention, but they can't give it to us all. God, I miss those idiots

In early high school for a short period, I somehow got away with wearing basically a pleated miniskirt with tights and long buckled boots. Never really got in trouble for it, I just decided to switch up after a bit because skirts weren’t for me much and I kept catching the tights. But what drove me mad was in year 11 I wore a perfectly reasonable skirt with some thick over the knee socks, and the teacher didn’t like that when I sat down there was maybe a centimetre of skin showing at times. She didn’t have a problem with the skirt, literally just the socks, and it confused the hell out of me when even the fairly opaque tights hid nothing of your leg 🤨

Our school had a uniform change when I was in year 10, so they gave us all free replacement skirts but we had to buy extra ones. They somehow gave me one a few sizes too big, so I had no choice but to roll it over a couple times to stop it from falling down. The look on the teachers face when I rolled it back down and showed her the waistband. She let me roll it back up 😂

I constantly got told off for my skirt being too high from the age of 14, when I began to develop hips. I have an hourglass figure but the rest of my uniform covers it, so teachers thought I was rolling up my skirt. Had to literally take off my jumper to show them that that was just my body shape. Any bigger and the skirt wouldn’t have fit my waist so there was really nothing anyone could do and they were so mad!

Girls in our school had to wear trousers. I always thought it a bit strange when schools had skirts. They aren’t practical at all.

My highschool had strict uniform rules with tucked in shirts, ties, jumpers and thick blazers - that were not to be removed during horrific heatwaves - along with black leather shoes and CHARCOAL GREY (majorly important for some reason) trousers that were deemed too tight if you couldn’t feel the wind blowing up your legs on a freezing winter day. I would deliberately wear ripped skinny blue jeans, crisp white air force, unbuttoned shirts and use my tie as a scrunchie… gave the head the finger as I left on results day with a full sheet of GCSEs, proving my outfit had absolutely 0 influence on my ability to learn what turned out to be the most useless information possible😂 Looking back now, I was a complete dick about it and don’t recommend being a twat in school - but don’t stand for bullshit.

Nah i’m in yr11 and were fed up of the bullshit half of the girls just wear skinny trousers including me and a small population of the girls the still wear skirts have the rolled to piss them off and just walk off if someone asked them. I got my mum to sew mine when I was in yr9 I got fed up of the skirts as they were so uncomfortable so I half way through yr10 i bought skinny trousers best decision ever nearly all yr11 is just wearing trousers now

Back when I was in school us guys used to wear skin tight black jeans to school and would tie our tie backwards so the small part of the tie was at the front while the bigger part was tucked in. I can’t count how many strikes I would get on my uniform card but I would just go to the office and say I lost mine, I would then get a new one or ask a friend to get a new one and give it to me and I was back to zero strikes. 😂

Omg as a year 7 I was terrified of getting a detention or stepping out of line (yes I was known as a crier and teased for it) so I would never talk back. By year 10/11 I was wiser and basically did what she did in the video (in my case though it was rolling down my blazer sleeves around one particular teacher, but funnily enough none of the others minded.) Mind you the majority of secondary school was trash so its not surprising I started off terrified of it and ended up just going through the motions till I left :)

The “no don’t give me a detention” is the last thing you will hear from a year seven I got internals for fun it’s like an all day detention even from class you can drink and eat while doing your class work by yourself and you where the first to go and get food from the cafeteria I only did this 6 times in 4 years but it was like a week off in just one day especially if you timed it so it landed on a wensday when they sold really good chicken burgers

Am a bloke was in middle school so Year 7 or 8 I was going down the English Block Corridor getting to me next subject, history which was across the coast yard, one of the English teachers noticed I didn’t have my shirt tucked into my trousers , I apologised started to tuck it in , turned the corner than immediately untucked the shirt. The teacher noticed than went after me I made it half way cross the courtyard before he started shouting for me to come back , I did than I was forced to tuck it in in front of him fully than he let me go about my day. Not even a year after I left he got sacked for anger issues 😂

When i was in, idk 2nd year (14yo), one of my yearmates started rolling up her skirt at the waist til it was halfway up her thighs - this from a skirt that, on her (she was pretty short) went to halfway down her calves. I really wasnt arsed to do anything of the sort, but she regularly got shit for it from the half of the teachers that cared, not that it stopped her at all. If she was still in the school to do that by 5th or 6th year she wouldnt have heard a word, not least because half of everyone's skirts are always significantly shorted by that point because we're all taller. However, it's also because by that point the teachers have stooped hiving the slightest shit about your uniform as long as you're making some sort of nod to it - i spent all of 6th year with my headphones around my neck when phones, if seen, were confiscated for two days. Well, no, that's the year they were forced by circumstances to let us use our phones to use digital textbooks, and i ended up taking all of my notes that didnt need handed up on my phone too, but anyone with headphones or earphones was clearly not doing schoolwork so that got shit... except that i was ① a 6th year, and ② known widely as Not Trouble, because i was just very good at hiding what little i was arsed to do

Gonna expose myself on this one. I had the same skirt from year 7-11 because we got them free when my school decided to become an academy and change its logo, got in multiple arguments with head of year for having my skirt too short because ours were pencil skirts with a slit at the back so we rolled them and turned them to the side so the slit would be on your thigh. Had to stop wearing it in year 11 because it was finally too small for me and my school was changing its logo… AGAIN. Also I found out I was 5 months pregnant over the Christmas holidays so a skirt was off the cards for me by the time my exams came round 🥴 do miss high school sometimes but I am glad it’s over 😂

At my high school (CofE) there was a senior mistress who would have the girls kneel down in assembly. If their hem didn't touch the floor they got the parental letter. I remember seeing girls lower the hems when they saw her coming. To be greeted with, "Young lady. If you have to pull it down now, it was too short when you put it on this morning." Mind you, this was the 80s, so there was a variety of fashions. Rather the one and only there is today.
