Just want to point out that something can’t be both liquid and solid at the same time. A non Newtonian fluid like oobleck is a fluid, so either a gas or a liquid. The cool part about it is that it doesn’t respond to external forces like you think it would. So oobleck for example can act like a solid, but it isn’t, it’s a fluid.

Imagine you just go to the pool and it's full of oobleck instead of water. "This is awesome I'm gonna have so much fun" you decide to run across the surface and then dip your hand in it slowly to test it, and it works! Then you walk into it planning to sink just a little into it. First your toes start to get covered, then it's at your ankles, going a little faster now it's at your knee. You decide that you spent enough time in the oobleck and you should get out now. You go to move you leg... It doesn't move. "Why can't I move my leg?" you think. You start to panic a little and start trying to jerk your way out of it but you can't. You decide that you should sit there for a few seconds to think about what to do. But every single second you spend thinking makes you sink deeper. If you struggle to get out you get nowhere and just wear yourself out. If you do nothing then you shouldn't no deeper. Calm movements won't work either they aren't fast enough. You go into your pocket so you can dial 911 even if it is a lame and dumb reason why, but you can't not feel the cold, wet, slimy soil you are to be buried in. There is quite literally nothing you can do at this point. Nobody else is at the pool, all the staff is off for Thanksgiving break, you cannot access your phone, and you started sinking in the middle of the pool. All this floods into reality making you panic and jerk all your limbs to get out, you try pushing down on the oobleck to bring yourself out but this would require enough strength to lift not only you, but almost the whole entire pool of oobleck as well. Eventually you struggle so much you exhaust yourself and could not move even in an open field. This causes you to sink deeper and deeper into the oobleck. Eventually you re gain your strength and decide to try pushing back down on the oobleck again but, your arms are restrained by your side. The only part of your body that can move now is your head. Breathing starts to get harder as the oobleck starts to envelope your torso. You start to get calm and you feel a warm feeling throughout your whole entire body. Oddly calm, as if you are laying in bed after a long work shift or a difficult test in school. You remember your first school friend, playing your first video game, first good play in a sport, your first partner, you remember the first day of highschool, it seems almost as if every second of your life was re-experienced right here in this very grave. You start to feel a familiar cold feeling slithering across your neck. But you don't care anymore, it doesn't seem too important anyway. Eventually you start hearing some pops and cracks coming from inside your bones it seems as the oobleck envelopes your chin, yet again doesn't seem too important. You try talking to yourself to break the awkward silence but it's as if your lips don't work anymore. You eventually smell something weird, it kind of smells like flower but not quite, you try to take a deep breath to maybe identify the smell but you can't. Eventually you feel an odd cold slimy feeling even covering the top of your head, "that's odd why do I feel like I jumped in a pool of slime?" You think. For the next 3 minutes you suffer an agonizing and horribly painful death that feels like 3 centuries, and you don't even know it.
