@Hernando Arteaga Gómez Excellent observation! :) In this case, 'to have'' (tener) combined with the auxiliary verb ''been'', (from the verb ''to be'' (ser)) makes the verb ''to have'' into the present form (I have, You have, S/he HAS, We have, They have.) I wish she had included this in her description of the verb forms of ''to have'' to the left of the first column: the first person singular/plural, second person singular/plural, third person singular/plural. It's already complicated translating these first verbs in your head, you need to have some help to remind yourself of the conjugations of that first part of the compound verb while you're learning this part new part. Sooo, ''to'' in ''been to'' is telling you this person (infinitive: to be: they were there once) has physically existed in a location previously. I know, god, is it complicated learning a new language. Spanish is phonetic, not French! :( Good luck! :)

This is how we've learned it in our English class: I went to Brasil last summer. - Past Simple: you either say WHEN you did something in the sentence or it is known to the interlocutor I was eating when you called. - Past Continuous: the longer action (eating - PC) interrupted by a shorter (called - PS) I have gone to Brasil. - Present Perfect: the interlocutor doesn't know when this happened, or with since & for I have lived there since 1981/for 10 years.
