Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus travels outside of Israel and heals a man of his deafness. Today, we live in a realm of spiritual deafness. We are bombarded with voices from outside, echoing around us until we are as incapable of hearing as the man from our Gospel. Like him, look to Jesus to heal you so that you might hear the word of God and understand his truth, rather than the lies of the world which surround us.

After 40 years of working as a nurse, I resigned from my position after being diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia. After six months , I received a call from our Pastor and invited me to be part of the evangelization program of the parish. I don’t know what this all entails but after deep discernment, I realized that there’s more to do than just nurse myself at home. “Be opened!” Our Pastor has assigned me to be the overall Coordinator of the program. Your homily reinforces my willingness and my openness to God’s plan. Please pray for me. God bless you.

Is that what it is? It's always seemed to me it was to annoy the crap out of everyone who doesn't think like you do. Atheists have opinions, too, but don't threaten you with burning in a lake of fire for eternity if you disagree with them. Evangelism should be prohibited. Everyone knows where to go for your information if we want it. Stay home.

@@philipfarnam6013 I don't know where you live but in the USA we have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Evangelism is essential to Christianity as Christ instructs us to give His love and teachings to others. If others don't accept it that is their loss and evangelical Christians will press on sharing love and light with others while you seek out religious videos with the intention of trolling innocent people. That's sad for you. I hope something better grows in your heart, that something being love which only comes from God as a gift and can only be shared with others through His grace and mercy.

@@spidercherry108 Nobody's impinging on your freedom of speech or religion. What an incredibly assinine way to begin your response! You're sounding pretty much like the nonsense they teach potential "associates" and "partners" in technical sales schools. What you're "sharing" you regard as a message of "love and light"; important "gifts", as you said and your evangelical method as "essential"...a direct instruction from your imaginary deity. To the rest of us, you're just another PIA with a product to sell that we have to contend with. You should not be surprised at objection and resistance. Stay home.

Being opened to hearing can do amazing things. I remember when I wasn’t sleeping well, and decided to go to church before the early mass. I was sitting, listening to morning liturgy of the hours. The words were so beautiful, inviting, and welcoming of the new day. I didn’t forget those beautiful hymns and psalms. They would call me back as I made an effort to go and listen more. I finally purchased my own Christian prayer book, and I’m learning morning and evening prayers now. The words don’t rest with me as they did when I just sat and listened (I’m busy flipping pages), but at least I’m no longer wishing I knew how to pray those beautiful prayers.

Listening to Bishop Barron is plugging into 2000 years of Holy Tradition; I experience the Apostolic power of his words, the power of the Church, the Mystical Body...of Christ Himself touching me metaphysically deeply with His power. Keep going Bishop Barron!

COVID changed everything. Music, Religion and Dwelling o Our Faith and Religion, Being aware of what’s going around Our World is what changed me. Now, I will say Spirituality is not gained overnight, nor can it be instilled in everyone or anyone. This I can assure you. The world around us has changed before, yet keeps changing in the US, and many parts of them. For Each and Every Christian Or even Consumer Catholic May have their Own Priorities in Life. That said, May not even be as Virtuous, because of all of the distractions in life, as Bishop Barron discussed. Faith, morals, ethics, and yes, Prayer/spirituality goes hand in hand. Prayer is intimate, but should also be done together. The Art of Theology and Other Sciences is crucial and essential to help humanity. Amén. My friend, May God Bless. Amén. We are all Gods Children. 🙏🏼🕊❤️🤲🏼

Let Bishop Barron be Bishop Barron as it is. God has gifted him to this work. If He has other plans, then the Spirit of the Lord will drive that. We need not assume anything more.

I LOVE this "plugging in" analogy! Growing up, I had catechisis with a Franciscan Friar who explained the Church as like a "Socket Man" and even devised a lamp apparatus to plug in lights or take them out! Brilliant!🥰😌

I found Bishop Barron last year , or perhaps the Bishop found me and I’ve never been the same . All that he says in this sermon is true. You can’t pump gas without being assaulted by the tv at the pump. When I hear all the noise of the world with it’s frenetic anxiety , I start talking to Jesus. I tell Him how much I love and need Him. God bless our precious and priceless Bishop Barron . I try with all that I have ,yet gently to open my sons eyes to Jesus. He is in this finite and material world. Hard for me to understand as he is the father of a beautiful son, my grandson. He created life and watched the miracle of giving life . I can’t understand how he doesn’t see this as a miracle. It is not a random thing . We are not random .

You have more influence on your son than you know. A mother's prayers are powerful! Keep praying and evangelize with your actions. It is harder for those closest to us to hear us, but not hard to see us.

The devil never sleeps …. I have the same problem. My kids are good people at heart but have totally turned their backs to Catholicism. How can I plug them into the graces and beauty of our church, I can only pray for them😔
