I like your review… it is more informative than infomercial… lots of these other trekkers and hikers just promote in hopes to be paid.. you really seem genuine in your reviews…keep it up

Well done 👍 Great point about using a bigger tarp for more space when raining. I just got a Haven and set it up once at the park. I live in the mountains so soon as a snow melts I'm going to head for the woods 🌲🌲🌲

Just bought the XL set up. Seen the regular size one and decided against it. Bought the Lawson Camping hammock. Which I love. But when used on the ground. The top sit anout 6inches from your face. Tons of room when hung. This one (XL) seems like has more wiggle room.

I did fail to mention that if using a stick or trekking poles to hold fly up, they would need to be guyed out.😁

Hi Kris, thanks for taking the time to share your set up. I'm looking at both of these systems. Which Zenbivy bed system are you using?
@kmazinthewoods6634
@kmazinthewoods6634 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks james! I’m using what they call the zenbivy light bed. I have both the 10 and 25 degree sets. They are both fantastic. The original zenbivy bed is a slightly heavier option that probably would of been fine but the light bed does offer more versatility. I will say, think hard about it today because I think today is the last day to get 20% off for their Memorial Day sale. I took advantage at the beginning of the sale and just got the 25 degree. Feel free to ask more questions. I’ll be doing a more comprehensive video soon.

@@kmazinthewoods6634 Thanks! Did you have any issues with the integration of the Zenbivy and the Haven? Chatter out there says that the Haven works best with their pad because the baffles in their pad are horizontal, whereas the Zenbivy are vertical and don't provide any structure. It didn't look like it when you hopped in. It looks like it fit like a glove!

@@perrytheplatypus7403 Hey James... I’m using the standard haven insulated pad. It’s a perfect fit. You definitely want to use a horizontal baffled pad.

@@kmazinthewoods6634 which size of zen bivy are you using with the regular haven pad? The pad is supposed to be 23x78 I believe and closest zenbivy size I could find was 25x 77. Looks like you got a great fit though.
@kmazinthewoods6634
@kmazinthewoods6634 3 жыл бұрын
@@davidmodeland429 thanks for the question. The insulated haven pad is 24 x 78. I would caution against getting the non insulated “light” version from haven as its 23x78. As you noted the Uninsulated version is 1” narrower and in my opinion be more prone to moving around in the haven tent. The zenbivy sheet fits fantastic. The haven pad is 1” narrower than they recommend and 1” longer. Both non issues as it’s fit is very forgiving in that its stretchy enough to accommodate. Thanks for watching

Helpful review. The Have pad is 23x78, while this one is 25x77. No problems fitting it into the Haven wiuth the slight variations in the dimensions?

Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m using the haven insulated pad which is 24x78. They also offer an Uninsulated pad which I would not recommend. That is 23x78. I have no experience with Zenbivy’s pad.

@@kmazinthewoods6634 Thanks for the quick response. I assumed you had used the Zimbivy pad, my bad. I have the insulated pad as well and at about 4 degrees Celsius I felt the cold coming through the bottom. Not sure how cold you have used your pad in? Maybe I might have to stack some pads for those kind of conditions. Possibly I didn't have the pad inflated enough? Thing is if inflated more I lose the comfort. Oh well.

Yes… I agree with your downsides. I find below 20 Fahrenheit I start to get cold. I have used a thermarest self inflating pad on top with success but the package starts to lose some appeal with each additional item needed. I also agree with your firmness experience. I love how it really holds the tent open when blown up max pressure but it flat out hurts my body… lol.

I other videos there was an issue with water sneaking through the rain fly. What has been your experience?
@kmazinthewoods6634
@kmazinthewoods6634 3 жыл бұрын
Hey John… you may be referring to the first generation of rain fly’s. They had a continuous piece of ribbon sewn through the ridge with a toggle on the outside and loop on the inside. Even though it was seam taped it would still wick through and drip. They corrected this issue by getting rid of the loop on the inside.I have never had an issue with leaks. Thanks for watching.

Are you talking about the haven tent or the zenbivy quilt? I probably have over 20 nights in the haven and don’t really see durability being an issue. I would like to see them offer replacement bugnet and rainfly options on their website because I do feel those are the items most commonly needing replacement.
