A quick video comparing our standard Haven Tent to the Haven XL, helping you find the Haven that is right for you ✨
Wider is not always better. You want the Haven Tent to closely match the width of your body so it works with the pad to help hold the space open. As a general rule, people under 150 lbs (68 kgs) will typically be more comfortable in the standard Haven Tent, while those over 200 lbs (90 kgs) should go with the XL. For the 50 lbs in between you should be happy either way, if you think you'd like the extra space... go with the XL!

Absolutely LOVE my XL. Used it all summer long. Made some adjustments to really lighten it up and I couldn’t be happier. Can’t wait to try it this fall and winter.

I love the Haven tent and look forward to using it again next summer. Thank you for including metric measurements and weight in your videos. For all of us living outside the USA it’s very much appreciated. However I must point out that kilogram is always abbreviated as “kg”, never as “kgs”. The incorrect spelling is shown at 1:55. It’s a small thing but just wanted to tell you so you can avoid this mistake in the future. Once again, love your products!

I finally got to actually sleep in mine after receiving it in August 2021, I got the XL, at the time I was 270 in weight, now 242 lbs in October 2021, I am 6'4" tall. I was very comfortable, when nature called, it was easy to get out and get back it without having to wrestle myself just right. Looking forward to use it more nights to come, which I live in the southern United States, fall, winter and spring are the best times for outdoor activities. Summers are too hot and sticky here.

I fucking love this product, I abuse it is an understatement. This is what helped me quit smoking. I got a habit to backpack instead of have embarrassing stamina.

I made a big mistake not getting in on you’re crowd source, but you had some leaky tarp issues back then. Now I’ll buy one next season….at full price. 😢. But I think you’ll be my hammock choice, pretty much for sure

I just ordered the xl, i hope it is the right size for me. I am 5 foot 6 and about 200 lbs. i am a bit on the heavier size the lightest i have been as an adult is 150 lbs. I hope i made the right choice.

Great! Don’t stress it. When you get it, set it up in your backyard or park and give it a try… you are welcome to exchange it for the standard if the XL is still in good condition. We call it the backyard test 😊

See, I'm currently on the fence between this hammock and the Clark NX270. I really like the idea of this being a both a ground tent and a hammock. The problem I have with this as a hammock are a couple of things: 1. You're limited to basically using the sleeping pad that comes with your hammock. 2. While yes, an insulated pad, a sleeping bag, and a hot tent set up gives you the best scenario, this hammock does not have an option for an underquilt. 3. This hammocks rainfly could be designed a little but better, but then again, that's nit-picking

If you decide to go with us, after you place your order send a message to support@haventents.com saying you’re giving it a “backyard test”. You’ll get the hammock, set it up in the backyard and give it a try. If it’s not right for you, send it back and get a full refund (as long as it’s still in good shape). This is what you call a puppy dog close, we don’t get many back 😂 But we’re confident in what we have. Have a great weekend. Thanks! **BTW this really only makes sense for US customers. As international return shipping ends up being too expensive in most cases.

wish it was possible to have tried both out before I bought the XL... I still love it... but at barely 150lbs I do find i sink in the middle a bit.. but I've had 24" wide sleeping pads and cots and disliked them.. so I went with the XL for the room.. also my sleeping bags are all XL sized.. either way the customer service is beyond top notch...

The tent poles look quite sturdy and heavy. What material is this ? Do you really need the upper ones or even the down ones at all? Is there maybe an option to leave them out or to upgrade on a lighter version. They look very bulky and heavy!

@@HavenTents dang you guys are quick. I’m having high hopes. I have been wanting the aerial A1 but there all behind so I made one. Had a custom trampoline Matt cut the size of my mSR hubba tent. Was little disappointed sleeping on it. Also I have the Amok hammock which is great except for getting in and out and in the middle of the night if I move forward or backwards I loose level. So fingers crossed.

Anyone who lives somewhere with mosquitoes will not appreciate the fact that they didn't do double zippers on the mosquito net. There is only one zipper on either side of the nets so you have to open it all the way up. I spent the first night in mine last night, and I had to grab something off the ground underneath my hammock. I had to open half the bug screen up just to get to what I needed and I let in about 30 mosquitoes in the meantime. On any of my Hennessy style hammocks, they are double zippered which allows you to unzip a small portion to reach out and get anything off the ground or outside the hammock. Serious failure right off to get go. It seems like their only concern was the ability to remove the bug screen. Also, with a bit of movement flipping back and forth from your stomach or side, the bug screen zipper will start to work its way down opening a gap. Gnats, no-see ums, and mosquitoes became a problem from that as well. There is a good chance that my brand new hammock will be sold shortly. I waited a long time to buy one of these, very disappointing.

Hello. There is a patent on double pull detachable zippers. And it is enforced with hammocks. The alternative is to make the zippers fixed (like we have with the new Safari). We like having the modular bug net for the packaging version.

@@HavenTents Thank you for your response. I'm not certain I'm following your reasoning as there are plenty of Hennessy style hammocks which have double zippers on the bug screen and they are made by a number of different companies. How are they getting around the patent issues? Or did they just pay the patent owner but you didn't? Also, your zipper/hammock system is flawed, it comes unzipped when under load with the normal movement of somebody moving from laying on their back to laying on their stomach. You obviously figured out this is a problem and updated the zipper system for the Safari hammock as you mentioned that is a new feature. How are you addressing the zipper system issues on your older models of hammocks? I received my Haven XL on March 23rd. This was my first use of it last night and it was a miserable night in the woods. I was seriously amped to get this hammock as I am a stomach sleeper and waited for the XL for the extra room after you announced you would be bringing one out. Something needs to be figured out to solve the zipper problem on these other model hammocks that you still sell.

@@lynnjr457 The patent is owned by Dutch at Dutchwear hammocks. US10306955B2 I talked to him about it personally at HangCon in January. He does not license his zipper to anyone in the hammock insutry (which makes sense). I'm sorry about your experience. I would say that it atypical. I have not heard of the zipper becoming unzipped under tension. I'll ask Tim if he's been in contact with you, if you haven't sent a message you can reach us at support@HavenTents.com We would be happy to accept your return and give you a full refund. We hate missing an expectation. We are always working to improve and get better. We'll see what the reception is on the fixed safari zip track, and see if that is the direction we should go on the standard and XL tents. Thanks for giving us a shot. - Derek

If there's some way to flip that into the purchase of a Safari I'll be happy to make up the difference as it sounds like those changes will solve the problem I am having. I have also received a few responses from others telling me they had similar issues with the zipper on their Havens. I will provide the links to those comments to your support email as well.
