Before you all comment saying "yOuR nEiGhBoRs MuSt LoVe u" or anything annoying like that, I had NO complaints at all. So don't waste your time commenting like that.
Anyways, with my father being out of town for a few days and with this being in the middle of the day, I thought it would be the right time to sound off my Whelen through the horn as well as my SiraTone controller so you all can have a chance to be able to hear what it sounds like at different angles and I've also been wanting to do something like this for a LONG period of time and finally, I got the opportunity. This is something I wouldn't usually do but I felt that this needed to be done cause I promised you all that I was going to sound off my Whelen through the horn when I get a chance and I feel that your patience has paid off.

This maybe a little late now but just for your convenience, here is the list of time stamps of which part of the video is which. 0:08 = 1 Driver Single Tone facing downwards one cycle wail. 0:38 = 1 Driver Single Tone facing upwards one cycle wail. 1:08 = 1 Driver Single Tone in the horn one cycle wail. 1:48 = 1 Driver ST facing downwards one cycle wail (Second camera angle). 2:21 = 1 Driver ST facing upwards one cycle wail (Second camera angle). 2:51 = 1 Driver ST in the horn one cycle wail (Second camera angle). 3:25 = 1 Driver ST in the horn one cycle wail followed by High-Low, and Air Horn. 4:30 = 1 Driver ST in the horn one cycle wail followed by High-Low, and Air Horn (Second camera angle from next door). 6:12 = 2 Drivers meaning to be Dual Tone 1 cycle wail (but forgot to plug in the second amplifier plug) Oops :P. 6:45 = 2 Drivers Dual Tone 1 cycle wail followed by High-Low, Air Horn, and Whoop signal. 8:19 = same thing as 6:12 (Second camera angle). 8:58 = 2 Drivers DT 1 cycle wail followed by High-Low, Air Horn, and Whoop signal (Second camera angle). 10:41 = Me opening the garage door so you can see where my Whelen head is at and concludes the Whelen ESC-864 controller demo. Next up is SiraTone controller through Whelen 3000 horn. 11:04 = 2 Drivers in the horn 1 Cycle Wail (Standard potentiometer settings). 11:33 = 2 Drivers in the horn 1 and a half Cycles of Alternate Wail signal (Standard potentiometer settings). 12:27 = random signals in any order I desired (Standard potentiometer settings). 13:28 = Steady Signal Pitch shifting (Freq Cut-off Pot set all the way off and remains that way for the rest of the video). 15:21 = Alt Wail Signal pitch shifting to highest to lowest setting available . 17:09 = Steady Signal lowest setting pitch available followed by 17:46 moving the Freq Pot to increase pitch all the way up slowly to quickly while still winding down. 18:22 = Steady Signal highest setting pitch available. (Yes, even higher pitched then Battle Creek's EOWS-612). 19:43 = 1 and a half cycles of Alt Wail Signal highest setting pitch available. (Last part of inside the garage camera angle). 21:55 = 11:04. 22:23 = 11:33. 23:18 = 12:27. 24:16 = 13:28. 26:09 = 15:21. 27:57 = 17:09. 29:09 = 18:22. Finally, 30:30 = 19:43.

I always thought the horn significantly contributed to the tonality. Thanks For sharing!

Arlington Texas used to have WPS 3000’s,4004s & allertors. We now have a system of SRNs. I love analog whelens

7:20 9:34 That Dual tone Airhorn sounds so damn good. Especially since there’s hasn’t been analog dual tone whelen that did Airhorn.

I believe the Fermi plant in Monroe County used to have a system of WS-3000's and WS-2000's. I think they were sold off to other communites in Michigan after the SRNs were put up.

Fermi still has a few Decommissioned Whelens in Wayne County that haven’t sounded off since the early 2000’s when they put the 2001s

If you put all the drivers in series, wired from the negative of one driver to the positive of the next driver, and so on, you can drive the entire horn from one amplifier channel and use any amplifier you want. It will only sound as loud as having one driver installed, because even though you multiplied the drivers by 16, you also multiply the electrical resistance by 16, so the amplifier only develops 100W into the entire speaker. However, do not wire all 16 drivers in parallel to a single channel because this will produce a very low 0.5-ohm impedance that can fry an amplifier running at full power.

No, stop commenting about neighbors, but yes, it is cool! That Whelan can also make some pretty awesome, but as proven here, also some very silly, sounds.

You probably shouldn’t run your siren below 200ish hz or you could blow a driver or an amp

Federal must have not known this since the MC goes as low as 200. Some Siratones even hit 140 Hz!
@mattmakesmachines
@mattmakesmachines Жыл бұрын
@@FSM_Reviews you can technically go to 200hz before the pitch causes an issue but it’s cutting it really close at that point

Normally what happens is the driver suspension limits the excursion of the speaker, and the distortion dramatically increases. There is a frequency called the resonant frequency of the transducer where excursion is at the maximum, because the compliance and the mass of the speaker are perfectly balanced, and that is the frequency you don't want to operate at for a long time without the horn installed, because otherwise the speaker diaphragm can move through large excursions and damage itself if it contacts the 'phase plug' structure around the diaphragm.
