I got a offer for Cambridge and I genuinely thought they'd made a mistake until I got the letters and the UCAS offer through a week or so later. I also asked to join an offer holder facebook group and it took a few days to be accepted and once again I felt myself thinking "they haven't accepted my joining request because the university must have made a mistake'' I relate so much to this video

When you first started talking about it I was like, well that's not a syndrome everyone doubts their abilities ever once and a while, but the more you talked about it the more I felt like it's very particular and more than just doubt and that I always experience that feeling, for example in my school there's a cup given yearly to one student out of 2000, it's the biggest deal, and I won it twice, I'm the only person in the school's history to win the cup twice, now that should make me very proud but it's the very opposite, every time I think about it I imagine how the teachers who elected me to win are now regretful and think they've made a mistake, it's a horrible feeling and I never feel great about my self what ever I do

Imposter syndrome isn’t an official diagnosis or a “syndrome” in the medical sense, rather an accumulation of emotions linked to success; it is similar to the way in which we use terms such as stress or low self esteem. I also have it but it isn’t the same as having a diagnosed mental health condition.

ugh yes, compassion! I've also been felt the anxiety around posting videos and took a break because as I was walking around my campus I kept wondering what everyone thought about me lol and have been feeling imposter syndrome. Like I am always proud of my work because I do put in a lot of effort but whenever I try to start a project or I have a goal I'm like nah I don't know that much or nah I don't have the ability to do that and it was so so exhausting trying to overcome it. But this inspired me to start again.

Such an important topic! You so deserve your place at oxford! You wouldn't have been given it otherwise. Relate so much! Don't go to a good uni but I got a place without the grades and I've spent so much time feeling like I don't belong and I'm not intelligent enough. Then every time I get a first I'm like "It was marked leniently" or "it'll just magically go down somehow to the 53 I feel like I'm worth rather than the 73 I've achieved."

I will ALWAYS be entertained when watching your videos. I love how you are so open on your channel so we all understand that once you got to Oxford it was not all highs and you were not always feeling great mentally. Thank you for being you! (ok that was cringey) but I love you and keep doing what your doing xx

Thank you for this candid discussion. I myself have always been a good student. I did well in undergrad and my masters but I always find a way to disregard my accompalishments. I am always comparing myself to others and that is so frustrating. It is a struggle everyday :'(

I totally get what you mean, I'm currently in my first year of A-levels at the same school that I did my GCSEs at and to get into the sixth form you had to achieve a certain set of grades. I worked my ass off for so long and come results day when I opened my results and found out the I got in I felt as though I had cheated. So many people that I knew to be incredibly smart didn't get in, but I did. I really feel like I've cheated my way into getting in and it's really tough. Thanks for discussing such an important topic!

Such a relevant topic. I am an International Student in the USA and trust me. Impostor syndrome is REAL. You start feeling like there is something that you are doing wrong. You fear to even challenge the system because you feel like an OUTSIDER!! I am slowly getting over it now but it comes back even when people look at you when your random African accent surfaces hahaha

Imposter syndrome at gcse=my life I think it's so important to talk about it because it's given me really bad anxiety recently and I can't even bring myself to put my hand up in class anymore because I'm too scared of being called a fraud if I get it wrong. Both your video and jade's video have related to me on unbelievable levels but you are worthy of being at Oxford and you deserve a great degree so so much. Thank you for helping me to see I'm not alone. xxx
