Aww, I’ve never played with Katie. But I was at 2/5 while she was playing this game against a couple of regs from 2/5. She’s probably not the only one taking a shot on that table lol

We've *all* been in situations where we were nervous about the size of the game or the amount of money we had on the table. But making a smaller 3bet than she knows she should is just going put her in tough spots. If she makes it $250, maybe he folds. The stacks definitely get shorter. If you're nervous about playing a bloated pot OP in a big game, sure. So flat the AK and take your chances. But putting in a too-small 3bet only makes it worse.

It seems unlikely villain is turning JJ into a bluff trying to move hero off of a big ace. For thick value villain has boats quads and one combo of a6s and one combo of exactly athh. So 7 total combos. Villain has 6 combos of ak himself he could value bet so for that reason alone you need to call. He could also do this with aqs or ajs simply reasoning that hero would *always* bet an ace on the flop and is stubbornly holding on with KK or QQ or a garbage suited ace such as a7s. Once in a blue moon you will see a pure power play with a baby pair but those are the only bluffs that are close to natural, the guy is just praying she folds or he backs into a boat. He'd have to have giant balls to do this with kq and you would know he was loco by now I think playing with him for a few hours. I think the interesting part of this hand is if you should really check the flop. I think it's a mistake because you're checking to induce, which may work, but you may induce him to be tripling 10% of the time, whereas had you bet he might be bluffing 0% of the time. Unfortunately you're still now paying him off the 90% of times he triples off with value, whereas had you bet, you might be able to escape from your hand when you face a fat turn raise, because you have shown strength in the hand. Also if he does hold aqs, you are missing value because he is often going to pot control that holding at some point in the hand if you allow him to. If you're checking to induce, check with a worse ace because aj does just as well versus bullshit and can't extract value itself, but ak can.

Stopped at 13:00. Snap call as played, snap call if he shoved, as played. Check raising the river would likely only be called when you chop or you are beat. Maybe AhQh will call a river check raise. I'd expect to see foe have AK here a high percentage of the time, and is trying to get value putting your on AQ, AJ. Actually, the more I think about it, the only foe hands that really make sense are AK, AA and TT. You block AA, there is only one combo, and you could have AA here a good deal of the time. Though you'd be giving great pot odds, a river check raise all in might get AK to fold. Your hand would look SO strong at that point, the bottom of your range would really be AK, and you could easily beat AK with AA or AT. Unless foe specifically has AhKh a river check raise all in would be a hard call for a good foe, because you could have AhTh and beat AK now, and you'd play your hand the way it was played.

This is a standard call regardless of outcome. It sounds like shes scared $$ slightly in which it can throw off your whole game which u dont want. Stay @ your stakes.

idk if he bets turn with pocket 6, pocket 5 or A6suited as he has board on lock, there are not many combos available assuming he called the 3 bet with those combos & most importantly the way she played hand makes her hand seem weaker than what it is. Idk that villain can have many hands that beat her & while her check on flop was unorthodox given she played it that way and the draws missed I think her play on turn and river was perfect. She was a great caller & one thing that wasn't mentioned was by her playing hand this way as a 3bet check call, check call, check call she has protected her range. If she's a bit nervous and playing up to take a shot it's good to send the message that she can check call with high value hands so the other players don't try to blow her off of every marginal made hand.

Played a similar 3 bet pot 2 days ago except I thought I was freerolling diamonds but the villain happened to have the 1 combo of AA. I get setups from time to time, but rarely where I have no thoughts about pot control even if I decide against it. It's just something that happens. I don't think I should adjust anything.

I was thinking AK from the turn on wards. Pretty much the only hand that makes sense for those sizings, and they are not 4 betting against a tight 3 bet range.

I would really only be checking the flop to check-raise, but I would've 3bet bigger, about 3.5x-4.5x then my check-raise would've been small from BB. On a rainbow board like this it gives you a good chance to take the lead on the turn and either bluff the draw or charge villain for his possible improved draw.

Stay away from thickest stakes. She is not ready. Scared money is losing money

I don't think it had anything to do with her being a woman; they could read she was nervous and uncomfortable about the stakes and that's why they would be extra aggressive when she checked.

Shouldn’t it be 435? Minus rake but they don’t consider rake when discussing the hand ever. 5 + 10 + 20 = 35. 200 + 200 + 35? Maybe I’m wrong but they both got the same number. Anyone care to explain?

@4:28 "As a woman I face a lot of aggression when I check the flop as the pre-flop aggressor". That's interesting, because very often when I check the flop after raising pre I face a bet and I always thought it's because I'm a man.

I kinda think the move here is to do a mergy jam to specifically try to fold AK off a chop. AK is just so often villains hand here, 55 is the only real other hand consistent with the line here.

Great caller, but we really need to know how she thinks she's perceived otherwise than being a woman. Does she think the guy thinks/knows she's scared money? I think that should move a lot of hesitant calls toward definite call. Also back a bunch of years people would often play the "sands hand" which was either 63 or 62, cant remember. So when she said the 6 paired I thought uh oh, not at Sands!

Not commenting about the play here because that's not even a concern. Katie did not sound comfortable with the stake she was playing. In poker, you need to be ready to lose at least 2000bb or even more to survive the variance no matter how good you are. The more important advice would be to lower the stake to build larger bankroll, or getting staked.

Honestly not a whole lot to gain from this hand the check on the flop to induce/bluff catch down the line is solid as would be barrelling off no way we’re folding at any point here

It's live poker in a 5/10 a lot if not most regs are playing with less than 15 buy ins. If he jams river, she is folding 100% of the time. I don't want to hear line talk. Is it exploitable? Yes but you don't do it vs recs and rich regs.
