That's why this song was not dubbed... It's raw recording by Kavita Krishnamurthy. On one stanza she pronounced Jaanu as Jeenu but composer kept it as it was in there. Not even rectified.

True. Sridevi never had any training and yet she takes any song on another level. Even Malayalam actress shobana said in an interview in the early 90s that you don’t need to be trained to be a good dancer. She gave Sridevi’s example. Shobana is one the greatest classical dancers of India with 2 national awards.

Sadly Filmfare awards ceremony didn't take place in 1987 and 1988 (to give away the award for the movies, songs of 1986 and 1987) so Kavita lost out one award for Hawa Hawaii song while Sridevi lost two awards for Nagina (1986) and Mr India (1987). Although Sridevi did get a Filmfare special award in 2013 for those movies. Kavita would have surely won best singer award for this song if award ceremony did take place back then. Kavita's voice suits Sridevi perfectly. Tbh Filmfare sucks now
