what is an haole?

I don't understand why Hawaii is a part of the USA. I can get to foreign countries faster. I think it's sad that Hawaii was taken over, but if not for our military it would probably be a third world country. The majority of the people in Hawaii are very poor. It's too late to give them back their island now. It's ruined with high rises, tourism, and traffic. It's still very beautiful. This song touches my heart and makes me sad.

haole is what I am according to some Hawaiians. I am caucasian but feel for the people of Hawaiian. They did not know the true meaning of hypocites when the plantation owners were in their mists. They trusted because they thought that the Christians were honest (im Christian) some give Christians a bad name. They were duped by slick, smooth talking, GREEDY people. And for this I am so sorry. We took a country and made it part of ours. But visited big island and fell in love.

a Haole, non Hawaiian...but has come to mean a white person. I never hear a Japanese or Chinese person called a Haole....without breath...whatever that means....

Because I am a member of another ethnic minority. And I recognize liberal guilt when I see it or read it. Your phrase "the rest of the haole who took their country away from the Hawaiians" is fraught with liberal guilt. It would have been better and been more respectful if you had simply kept quiet.
