OMG, your comment is my favourite comment. You've read my mind. I've shared the exact same view and have tweeted about it quite a lot on Twitter. It sounds like a very simple question, yet it conveys so much more. She asked if the seat had taken. Come on, it's a plane not a park, she's got a flight ticket. Her answer was more like giving a chance for him to decide if he wants her back in his life, if he wants to give them a second chance, to start everything all over again. His question "You sit down" is like a "Yes" to their future, "Yes" to their second chance, he welcomes her with wide open arms (well, baby steps, but we get a so-called hand-hug). It's his way to say "Are you sure? Don't back down, Let's take this chance. I don't know how to do this but let's do this together". It means so much without them saying too much. OMG I can go on and on and on. Can't stop, too happy now. THANK YOU!!!! P.S: She did hold his hands during their flight on 320 - Freddie's episode. I might have to watch it later, but it was nothing comparing to this hand-holding scene hehe.

He never really asked anyone to stay in his life. He never really asked Catherine (or any other ladies/men) to stay whenever they wanted to leave. He didn't have the chance at Kono's wedding and the non-existing proposal. Cath had already decided, so he didn't want to push. And now he finally made that decision: You sit down? Like when he overheard her on the phone call, he complained to Danny and said he wouldn't propose anymore because he would be an idiot. So, so stupid. I know he thinks he's being noble by letting her do what she wants, but sometimes a man should take the first move. One of the lines that I thought was meaningful was "Are you happy, doing what you're doing?" back in 707. He wanted to know if she's okay with her choice, leaving him and all, and he was too stubborn to let her know he had planned to propose (I think the only purpose of Lynn being in the picture was just to create someone stupid enough to let the cat out of the bag: spilling the beans abt the proposal to Catherine. I saw so many messages about how much Catherine had hurt Steve, she doesn't deserve him, which is partly true, yet he never asked her to stay. I mean, we all need affirmation. Of course, Steve understood why she did that, but I also think that Steve wouldn't want it the other way. She is military, independent, strong willed character, if you boxed her or put her in 5-O for the rest of the series, she would have been so miserable and could have never preserved that love and respect for her man and vice versa. Now you go through all the McRoll clips again and you must have a different sentiment knowing that in the end they found each other. The writers let us starving for their romamce for so long, now the end tastes divine!

So, probably Catherine wasn't sure about where their relationship was going... A strong, independent girl can't just sit around waiting for her man. And after she retired from the Navy, she chose Hawaii to settle down, for God's sake. She was willing to commit, yet Steve went to Grover when he had a nightmare. Steve kind of took Catherine for granted in my view.I loved them together and the story should have kept them together instead of bringing all the unnecessary drama with that awful Lyn she was just a sex pot no substance to her where as Catherine was everything.She never got angry with him, never questioned him,she just waited I think for him to acknowledge she was more to him.He was the one one not committed and I think like any respectable woman she had chose to live her life. @@LuckyStarPham Totally agree. We could have lived without the Wo Fat wife revenge and spent the hour on reflection, closure, future plans. Maybe do a time jump to see Steve and Catherine's kids. They did not give Danny a happy ending. Where were Rachel and the kids after Danny got shot? Why not finally put him and Rachel back together after dancing around it for 10 years. I was very disappointed with the ending.

@@LuckyStarPham I feel like Steve received the proper send off. The man has been amazing to and for everyone of them and the reason he's leaving is believable. For me it felt like it came to a sensible conclusion for Commander Mcgarret's run at the helm of the 5.0 task force. Bringing in Lance Gross gives us the illusion that the team will go on and be just fine. Having Catherine, his one true love cracking the code and meeting him at the very end, sealed it nicely. We can think that they're together while he continues this personal mission. Knowing it had to end, my little tender heart is pleased with all of this.

Catherine said Lincoln called her to ask for her help, so it's safe to assume that Lincoln also told her all the flight details etc. Besides, at the end of the day, she's an CIA agent. I'm sure she has access if she wants to.

Ikr Along history men have been soldiers etc, left for work for many years and it was no obstacle to starting a family. Why then everyone seems to think she betrayed Steve when she didn't give up her job? To me, it was Steve who broke things off with her, when she told she couldn't leave her job and he somehow said if you leave now then don't bother coming back. She even confessed she'd said yes to marry him if he had proposed right before she left. Sure there are things they didn't do right, but both should take responsibility and not play the victim. I'm actually a Mcdanno fan, but I don't get to understand such hatred towards her apart from being the third wheel in such fics 😔

I agree. I think he should have gone after her and proposed instead of giving up! Joe would have wanted him to make sure she knew that he wanted her to be his wife.

Absolutely love your insights. Makes me remember how I felt the first time watching it. Full of emotions, but I sort of analyzed everything about this scene the same way you did - only I knew Steve was leaving on a personal mission (finding her, for example). It was very subtle, the way she respected him enough to give him the choice to say yes or no. And his answer was short yet direct, there was no sign of hesitation. He was sure to enter into this new discovery with her, maybe travel around the world. I just wish that we could know his original idea of the destination he had in mind - whether he was traveling to find her, whether he was going to Washington or maybe San Diego where they met. And I was happy with him taking her hand, but I would love to see a short kiss, a hug, or something else. It felt a bit rushed at the end. I was grateful for this, but also a bit bitter, if I'm honest with myself. Anyway, thanks for watching and leaving your comment. I was wondering who Lindsay might be. It's Lynn haha. But I'm right there with you, I was worried for a couple of seasons. But Peter Lenkov (EP) kept saying Lynn won't be in Steve's future, it's just how he's gonna play out the whole story. Anyway, I think the whole point of having Lynn there was just to use her to reveal Steve's proposal plan to Catherine. Or to show how hard he wanted/tried to move on (which he didn't succeed woohoo, because Steve's always been in love with the one and only Catherine Rollins)
