To me it looked like the Mother Dwarf Eagle [never heard of that bird breed] launched left, heard a tussle , then a bird took off with the chick and left a egg in the nest. I couldn't tell if it was the Mother or other Predator Bird - too blurry.

@@KostyaTM What is the reason for this behaviour of Goshawk? I mean there are easier birds to prey on. Or does he try to eliminate a potential opponent?
@KostyaTM2 жыл бұрын
@@TheJacksnipe The goshawk lives here permanently, and small eagles come to nest in this forest every spring. Their nests are located nearby and yes, the hawk kills the pygmy eagle chicks solely as competitors, since it does not eat them, but simply gets rid of them. This year, he killed both chicks. You can watch the video on the site of the caretakers and organizers of the stream. aquilapennatapnports.wordpress.com/

Good Video, If the chick had stayed under it's parent's wing for protection, it might have stood a chance. That being said though, the hawk would probably have returned at another interval and still got hold of the chick...😃👍

I thought an eagle could kill a hawk easily. How come the mother let the hawk grabbed the chick in a blink 🤔

They are equal in strength, but the hawk lives in this area permanently. These shoemaker eagles migrate here every year and the hawk has attacked this nest every year in recent years. Yes, they are equal in strength, but the hawk attacks fiercely. Birds don't 'care' for their young the way humans do. A parent birds first priority is itself. Only humans and some of the higher mammals seem to have the capacity to sacrifice themselves for their offspring
