Its hard to justify spending the extra, the only things i prefer on the hawke is the metal flip up covers and the reticle. Thanks for posting, you were very thorough.

You just made up my mind for me in my next purchase. I always did find that Leapers was a good scope. I have no experience with Hawke,.and for the money and quality,..I will be staying with Leapers. Your excellent review is enough for me. You showed what others have not...back and forth between both. Good and easy to understand video. As a note, I always use UTG/Leapers mounts and rings. I find them solid and well made. I have just subscribed to your videos, and look forward now to more. Thanks again.

+Reg Sparkes I'm about to buy BKL or Sportsmatch monoblock mounts for my several Leapers scopes, I guess they are a good upgrade if you have a good strong scope rated for airguns vibrations. I have Gamo mounts and their screws are horrible, they desintegrate with the use, just checking if they are tight. If someone told me Leapers mounts are not worse than BKL or Sportsmatch I would buy that first brand because they are cheaper.

Best scope comparison I've seen. When you were going back and forth between views of each scope, it seemed that the Hawke had a clearer field of view. I guess I would choose Hawke but they are more money.

Great video sir. I have Leaper's AccuShot series scopes on all of my air rifles except my Discovery .177. I have the Leapers Bug Buster AO on it, but still a great scope for the money! Even the scopes on my 2 break barrel rifles (Hatsan 95 in .25 cal and Hatsan 125 in .22 cal) hold zero like crazy. I know a lot of folks will say "you get what you pay for", but for my money, its Leapers over Hawke with my experiences.

I was going to get the hawke sidewinder but ended up getting the MTC viper 4-16-50 because it was cheaper, it would be nice to see a comparison of the two to see if I made the right choice, very good video btw.

I'm at a bit of a loss with Hawke scopes. I just don't understand why their reticules are calibrated in MIL dots and their turrets not in MILs but in MOAs. It kind of suggests that the guys at Hawke are missing the point of calibrated reticules. To take it a step further and extend the point to other scope manufacturers. Why is there not one single air rifle scope manufacture that makes a first focal plane scope? I always thought that the main idea of calibrated reticules (ranging aside) was that one takes a shot, if one misses then use the reticule to take an offset reading (in MILs but could be in MOAs if the reticule were calibrated in MOAs), then transfer the reading to the turrets. With the Hawke scopes as they stand, one takes the reading in MIL, multiply by 3.4 to get MOA, then multiply by some other number (depending on the magnification being used) to compensate for the fact that the scope is a second and not a first focal plane scope. Then use the result to adjust the turrets. Doing this calculation twice, once for elevation and once for windage.

I have at least a dozen Leapers and 2 Hawkes. What I do not like about Leapers is the adjustments are not immediate. If I make an adjustment it usually occurs later. This makes it very difficult when sighting in especially with a spring piston or gas ram. You need to set the adjustment...shoot 2-3 times and then let the gun sit for 5 minutes. Then come back and re-shoot and re-adjust. If I shoot and let the gun sit overnight it seems the adjustment is always off the next day. It might not be alot but there will be some. I have not experimented with my Hawkes enough yet to see if I have the same problem.

thxs for the reply . some scopes opperate on a second focal plane after 10 power , and after that, point of impact will change.better to have a scope with one focal plane.less to figure out after 10 power.

I know things look different looking through a camera than with the eye so which scope gave you the sharpest view . Which gave you the best yard to yard focus for field target use. do both have a 10 yard focus . Which one would you put on your gun for field target shooting from 10 yards to 55 yards Air rifle field target.

I like the leapers. You can't beat the price/quality. Hawke is not bad, but I expect more. I return the Hawke. The Leapers I have is from US (PiramidAir) and the quality is much different from the junk that in e-bay and internet fake scopes. From a week I saw there is a new model in Leapers site - 8-32 and looks good. I don't know what is the quality of the new one.

I am not sure I understand the question, but both scopes are first focal plane and their magnification is form 8 to 32. I think the leapers actual magnification is about 7-28 than 8-32.

Hello Freemanshooting. I'm trying to find an appropriate scope for my S510 xtra Fac .22. Normal range that i will be using it is 25-50m but i would like to go to a 100m target range as well. What would you recommend now? What do you think about the leapers-6-24x50-full-size-ao-mil-dot-side-wheel-illuminat ?

Hawke is about 500 USD, Leapers was about 280 USD. The new model is also the same price. I hope they have the same or better quality as the old ones. Regards.

Dont buy a second focal plane scope. even if the manufacturer says you can range at 10X power you will need to back calculate to find the true magnification to range objects. Then mark your scope to that mag. Then check it often since frequently the mag dials inside dont stay accurate. Or just buy a First focal plane scope and dont worry about checking. For 500$ you can get some very nice and durable FFP scoped EX: Falcon Menace 4-14x44 FFP IR

I was disappointed fro Hawke too. Still good, but overpriced. The Hawke reticle is great. About Leapers - be aware - there are many fake scopes out there . Especially those coming from China. All are made in China, but the original is with better quality. Mine is from PyramydAir.

Leapers 6-24 is one of the best for the money. Just have in mind that is not with side parallax wheel. Do not buy it from China - they are cheaper but fake and bad as quality and construction. Buy from US. My 6-24 was from pyramydair . com air and was superb.
