They’ve evolved to carry the weight of prey but in captivity they don’t get to hunt as often as they would in the wild and in most country don’t hunt with them during the summer so they need to be exercised to build their muscles back up before hunting season. I dare say that’s what the bottle filled with stones and gravel is for. It’s the equivalent of us doing weights

@@kt2384 This isn’t a golden eagle. I believe it is a ferruginous hawk although I can’t say for sure but it’s definitely not a golden eagle which is the species that drags goats off mountains and hunts foxes. It’s still a very impressive bird of prey nonetheless.

This is called teaching based on reward/punishment psychology. They are training the bird to carry weight and then rewarding the bird with food. Then they will use it for Intelligence information gathering across borders by setting heavy devices on the bird.
