With the spillway at Warragamba dam overflowing for the last 2 weeks the mighty Hawkesbury Nepean rivers are full of trout again, for how long who knows.

Good to see they are about down there 👍 It's too bad that the big one didn't commit, they definitely get like that at times... I was waiting for the powershrimp to make an appearance, that would have done the trick I reckon. Ever since you mentioned that lure, it's still up there with a favourite for the trout. Done well with the same one for Bream and sambos down hen and chicken 👍 Hope you went back down later, keen for a part 2 mate

What I want to see is some steelheads coming back UP the Hawksebury after going sea run. Then you'll have some fun on the ultra light gear 😆 Got myself another few today. A high 30s, a 45 and a 50. All 'bows. Good fun. On a wolly bugger fished in tandem with a globug on my UL spinning gear. So effective. I do not know why more people don't do it. You should flick some flies up those drains and mangroves for some bream. I love doing that. Bream, mullet and big whiting love them. And salt water zonkers and things are as easy to cast as the jg heads and 00 sinkers we throw.

That would be terrible for the environment. 😂

You were making me jealous with all those big trout your catching, hopefully these trout hang around for a while.

hey Arron If you can remember to give us a close up of the lures your talking about and using that would be good Also The where you are is brackish isn't it ? Trout being freshwater fish . whats the go with that ?
@redtobertshateshandlesАй бұрын
We stayed further down towards the salt at Christmas and the water was fresh. I tasted it. Never took any lure as I didn't think of trout. Just Google trout lures.
@WindsorBaitAndTackleАй бұрын
will do and where I was is the last tidal stretch of the river, it,s 99% fresh, they can handle the brackish water but not the warmer river temps come summer.
@BushKayakersCampingAustraliaАй бұрын
@@WindsorBaitAndTackle cool thanks . I guess if it starts getting too salty for them they try to swim back upstream away from the salt/ brackish water . Once they are traveling past the grose river they are getting into pretty sketchy territory? . I suppose if they go or get swept downstream much past that they drown in salt and become fish food themselves . or hopefully can get back upstream or into the Grose

Didn't even know there was trout there

I’d be keen to hit further up that system to see if they have made there way up there.

Mepps - the first spinner's name.
@WindsorBaitAndTackleАй бұрын
Mepps are the best I think but the one I caught the trout on was a mapso
@oijosh6286Ай бұрын
@@WindsorBaitAndTackle ah gotcha - I hadn't heard of them before, just looked them up now. I shoulda known you wouldn't forget the Mepps name though 😆!

Could you recomend which lures for someone starting off
@redtobertshateshandlesАй бұрын
@robbiefishing recommends blades as the best shore fishing lure.
@AndrewFishmanАй бұрын
alby, that all depends, - What are you fishing for and what is the terrain of the water like? Rocky will have a different approach to woody to weedy to sandy. Good all 'round lures that are easy to use are BLADEs, as suggested already, SPOONs, SOFT PLASTICS (jig head - paddle tail minnow, curl or wriggle tail grub). Jig spinners can be coupled with spoons or jigs to add flash. INLINE SPINNERs are great, but require an inline swivel to help prevent line twist. SPINNER BAITS are easy to use, easy to lose. Many bibbed divers are very good and user friendly. The Stumpjumpers are particularly beginner suitable. Cheap and work without too much thinking about htings.

Go a celta for trout.
@AndrewFishmanАй бұрын
@@mikerobo2112 Celta, Mepps, Rooster Tail, Blue Fox, Wigston etc all make good inline spinners. Celta is just one brand among many. A good one, but not the only one.
@WindsorBaitAndTackleАй бұрын
Start with a no 2 mepps or mapso spinner, cast it out and wind it back, do that enough times and you will get smashed, good luck.
