Depends on which version of Hawkeye you consider Canon. This is just one of them. There's another version where he was captured and given the ability to draw the string on a bow with a huge draw weight allowing the arrow to move faster thru the air reducing his risk of missing.

Well... Hawkeye is the Talisman of the team... since without him they always lose (They were losing against Loki in Avengers 1 when Hawkeye was on Loki's side and they won when he was on the side of the good guys and they lost against Thanos first time because Hawkeye wasn't present and second time he was there and they won).
