I always loved how Gen - who had the coach mother, the money, the rink, the equipment - was so decent to Casey and looked out for her. Yeah she didn't like her at first but they way they became such good friends afterwards I adore.

I like the non classic portrayal that popular girls can be nice people as well, not always the mean girl.

The classic "psych out" is almost never used in skating. Usually, the competition appears friendly, but sneaky things occur behind the scenes. All the psych outs happen in secret; there's gossip online, within the parents (like in dance moms), so the parents tell the kids about it and that's what gets them worked up.

I used to figure skate and the first time I saw this movie and watched her skate in brand new skates without taking time to break them in I cringed. Must be so painful.

What a uplifting movie about caring and supporting those you care about. Also the values shown were just outstanding. I did not expect this to be near as good as it turned out to be. Great acting! Great writting!

Who knew that you could start skating until 15 or 16, skate for a few weeks and end up competition level? Bet all those Olympians who started skating at 2 feel stupid now.

Although I see the inaccuracies, I like this movie very much because of the character development. A skating mom that gets an attitude adjustment. An ice princess that suddenly discovers that she wants a normal life. A nerd that discovers that life is a banquet. And a nerd's mother that doesn't want to acknowledge that life is a banquet, so-it is okay to have pork, beef, chicken and shrimp.

A very nice movie that shows how young people like us can follow their dreams to.

I feel really sad for Gen and Teddy. Casey thinking that Gen and Teddy were a part of Tina sabotaging Casey's chances at figure skating. In my opinion that was very rude and unnecessary of Casey to jump to conclusions like that. I get Casey was upset and she wasn't thinking clearly but I don't think Casey stopped to think about whether she was hurting Gen and Teddy as much as she thought they were hurting her. I think Casey should have instead stopped let out her frustration about her feet and then check out the real facts behind her new skates and injured feet. I mean the look on both Gen and Teddy's faces is so heartbreaking I can't help but feel sad for them. And yes I do acknowledge that Tina was sabotaging Casey for sure because she wanted Gen to compete more than she wanted Casey to and that was very unfair to Casey but I still think Casey should have sincerely apologized for her behavior.

Ok so I have a theory for this movie and I have always had it since I watched it but here me out, what if Casey's mother is the skater who got injured by Tina at the comp that Tina got disqualified out during warm up and Casey's mother remembers that and that is the reason why she doesn't like Casey ice skating at all during the movie because of that because that injury could have taken her out for the rest of her career and that is why she hates Tina so much as well because she remembers who was the one to injure her, and she just hates the idea of her daughter to do the same and get injured and soo...think about it cause her mother said in the movie "Have you thought about the shelf life and like what you will do after because it is short and if I went to college we wouldn't be living like this", (Not direct quote but you know what I mean) and that could hint that she might have been an athlete like maybe a ice skater and because of the injury it made her hate ice skating a lot and she couldn't finish her career because her healing took to long to heal or that she didn't want to finish it because it made her hate it... Also how does her mom work at a college if she never went to college 🤔

I feel when Casey found out about Tina not telling her about that you have to break in her skates for up to ten days, I think Casey was definitely jumping to conclusions that weren't true. Like just because Gen is Tina's daughter that doesn't mean that Gen had anything to do with Tina buying Casey new skates. But on the other hand Gen is connected to Tina seeing as Gen is Tina's daughter and Teddy being her son I can see how Casey was connecting the dots. Tina did sabotage Casey because she was afraid that Gen would lose to her. I'm in DBT therapy and through the 5 years I've been taking it I've learned that when your in emotion mind you can't think clearly and you jump to conclusions that may not be true like Casey did, and wise mind is when you're put together, calm and collected and can be rational but Gen sincerely didn't know her mom bought Casey new skates and she sincerely was upset at her mom and decided to quit skating because of what her mom did to Casey. All in all Gen was a good friend.
