Too many people compare this to the original! Hayley did a terrific job covering this song. Her voice is incredible and she sings this song in a way that gives me the shivers. Even more than the original did.

I just came across this version of Kate's song. It's 2:15 am and couldn't sleep. So far I didn't like any of the remakes of Kate's song. However, this come close to the original. I still love Kate's performance because it's hard to improve on perfection. However, this version was well done. 👌 i

I remember sitting there at 2am one night in my depression and anxiety and Hayley had a concert showing on a late night tv station. I fell in love with her voice instantly and her looks took my breath away. Amazing women.

I have been a Kate Bush fan ever since I saw her for the 1st time on "Saturday Night Live". She sung "Them Heavy People" and later in the show sang " The Man With The Child In His Eyes" LIVE. I bought the "Kick Inside" LP the next day and just loved everything she did. That being said... Hayley is a very good singer, I see this as a very nice cover. The musicians on this were spot on, and have a really nice sound. I certainly can not hit those notes, so bravo to all who try it. Music is what it is to YOU.

I first heard this song in 1978 when Kate Bush appeared on television in Canada. Having read Wuthering Heights four times, it had become my favourite book. I absolutely loved the dark story, and couldn't believe how Kate had captured the wildness, the obsession, the desperation, the overly consuming love story between Cathy and Heathcliff in her song. Her appearance, her dancing, her arm movements, but mostly the ethereal sound of her voice and the lyrics just drew me in. I became a huge Kate Bush fan and bought all her albums. She is an enormous talent, and there is no one like her. However, I will say that Hayley's vocals on this song are top notch, really very beautiful, but I am always going to favour Kate Bush's version.

This song haunting me for years...

My favorite version is Pat Benatar's. Yes, I know Kate Bush wrote it and recorded it first. I just find her version a little to shrill. Hayley managed to reduce some of the shrillness of the ridiculously high key. I just think it sounds better in a lower key.

Hayley Westenra’s cover is prob the best cover of Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights. Kate’s vocals are something unique and completely different to a lot of female singers hence why she is brilliant cos no one does what she does. Hayley really did a brilliant job.

this is one of the most strong, a little creepy since it's so high and sharp, and beautiful songs that i have ever heard and it sounds awesome when haley sings it!

She bangs on the window to Wuthering Heights, hoping Heathcliff will invite her in from the cold(and forgive her), or lovingly join her spirit out on the Moors(where they use to play as children) when he dies. It's taken from the first few chapters of the book. She died young after marrying Heathcliff's rich rival Edgar out of money. Lockwood comes to the house and stays the night with the older Heathcliff. He sees the sad ghost banging on the windows. Lockwood then tells her tragic story.

Why are people always criticising covers? If Hayley Westenra wants to sing Wuthering Heights, that's because she is an admirer of Kate Bush, just like the majority of people who is watching the video. Of course the original has a very particular environment, and magic, that no one can surpass, but that doesn't make this one is bad. Both are just different interpretations.
