This recipe is a natural gatorade electrolyte drink and has been around for centuries. It can be called Haymakers Punch, Switchel, or Ginger Water. Just drinking plain water on a hot day does not replenish the body, which is why people putting up hay on a hot day would drink this instead; hence the name haymakers punch. It also helps eliminate charlie horses and restless leg syndrome.
Recipe:
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 tsp. ground ginger
8 cups of filtered water

The reason for molasses is for the minerals, all the minerals from the sugar cane plant are in the molasses. Its definitely not in white sugar. So add some Real Salt or Sea Salt to it, or some concentrace mineral drops. You didn't add any electrolytes, or not high electrolytes with just maple syrup. Do the molasses, best quality you can find.

You might look into adding magnesium to what you drink and see if that helps you hydrate - They found that nomad desert dwellers add mineral salt to 16 ozs of water and vigorously shake it - then drink it down first thing in the morning - Shaking the water dissolves the salts and also creates negative charged water - the water goes from a positive charge to a negative charge - so it goes from a acid state to a alkaline state - Our body only absorbs alkaline water - it rejects acid water -

Every morning on an empty stomach I drank lemon ( juiced ) raw apple cider vinegar and vinegar root ( I used an omega 6 juicer for the lemon and ginger root). But I had to stop the ginger and apple cider because it's a blood thinner and I would be bleeding when I would touch anything with my arm. Now it's a shot glass of lemon and 16 oz of water. I have been doing this for a few years now

Back in the 1990s there was a heatwave that passed over Chicago for about a week - 800 died of double heat strokes - there were many also who died of heart attacks - I dont remember the numder on heart attacks - They no longer realeaae the numbers of those who die during heat waves - The ones that died of heat strokes were primarily on low or restricted salt diets - Those who died of heart attacks were primarily defficenst in magnesum - Many were heavy coffee and tea drinkers - coffee and dark tea drinkers are defficient in magnesium - ( thats tea brewed over one minute till its dark ) - If you have charlie harses your deffecient in magnesium - 50 persent of heart attacks are charlie horses in the heart muscels - If you drink a lot of coffee or dark tea you might add some magnesium sulfate to it - i add about a quarter teaspoon of Epson salt to every cup or glass of tea i drink - Coffee and tea absorb magnesium out our bodies -

I would recommend watching you tube videos on magnesium and salt - 80% of the population is dehydrated - you can also look up hydration on you tube - I use very little AC I'm acclimated to the heat - when I was a kid no one I can remember used AC down here in the south - If you have a good attic or window fans along with good ceiling fans that create a good breeze - It can be comfortable enough even at 105° daily - I often nap from noon till 4 when it 105° - with a good ceiling fan blowing air on me I'm comfortable during the hottest days - When I was a kid many down here had heart attacks during the summer - today many have heat strokes during heat waves down here - at 7AM it was 80° and 75% humidity down here - I live in the rural south so it's a bit cooler than city's are - It's important to understand heat related illness during the summer even if you live in cooler areas of the US or other countries - Many are down on using any kinds of sugar - there are many hot areas were people add a lot of sugars to what they eat and drink - I've read that in blue zones were they uses a lot of sugar - although they never brush there teeth there is no tooth decay or plaque formation on there teeth - If you have any plaque build up on your teeth it's due to a lack of antioxidant in your diet - you should reduce your sugar intake till you find out how to raise your antioxidant levels -

Omgoodness I love molasses! Make cookies, I put it in my baked beans like momma taught me. My grandpa in later years used it as his salad dressing! Then we used the blackstrap molasses. It can still be found when shopping. It is a natural laxative so one might have to BE careful😜. After breastfeeding and our children switched to whole milk- I would mix in molasses to help them move when needed! We called it chocolate milk- to this day our now adult children on occasion will say “Mom I need some chocolate milk” 🤔 whodathunk!!?? I love this recipe you’ve given us and must give it a try!!! The Interwebz states: "The high sugar content of maple syrup means it should be used by diabetics only in minimal amounts." Better approach: Don't consume any form of sugar. Please go with the science on that. Cheers.

This is an electrolyte drink. White sugar has no minerals, no electrolytes. Maple syrup contains a number of electrolyte minerals. Maple syrup also has a lower glycemic load of 54 in comparison to table sugar (68).
