On the 14th January I went to enquire about a weeks holiday all inclusive at the Magic Tropical Splash the agent at Hays travel in Wellswood Torquay informed myself my Philippines partner and daughter that we would not require a visa after I asked the question having recently come out of Europe she replied that we would only require our passports. So on the 16th of January I called to make the booking which they sent through the confirmation by email some time after I took our passports down to be checked not once but twice as they photocopied the wrong page roughly about 10 days before we travelled I went to collect all the relevant paperwork. So on the 1st of April we set off for Bristol Airport I parked my car in silver zone and travelled to the terminal checked in and collected our boarding passes we were all excited to be able to get away if only for a week, the gentleman at checkin told us to go over to customer services to get the passports stamped the lady checked and informed us where were our visas I replied that the agent at Hays said we wouldn’t need a visa. The customer service lady arranged for our luggage to be returned my partner daughter was upset and I must say all your Jet 2 staff were lovely and understanding. When we returned to Torquay I confronted the manager and the agent concerned but they wouldn’t do anything as they said it is up to me to find out about visas as it’s stated on the bottom of the confirmation letter, I have since been to 2 travel agents to explain what’s happened and they have both said I should have been informed that my partner and daughter would require a visa before I paid for the holiday so now I have lost the holiday at a cost of £1640 + parking at £80.
