Most of you are missing the point, the other European leagues make certain accommodations when their teams advance to the later stages of these tournaments, the PL does not. That is the only point being made here, it has nothing to do with squad size/depth.

And why should the PL make changes? It’s the main competition teams are taking part in. Playing on weekends generates the match day revenue from where the clubs get paid. No premier league club complains about the money they get as they are able to generate the match day revenue. Meanwhile in the La Liga Barcelona and Real Madrid are complaining that they aren’t getting enough revenue and want to take part in a super league. This is what La Liga gets in return for bending over backwards to the needs of their clubs.

@@phantommarine29 Champion's league viewing figures suggest it is the most watched sporting competition each year, with viewing figures increasing for the later rounds. From a commercial perspective, it's fair to say that the teams regularly reaching the later stages are the ones who have a large and increasing fan base. The newer fans who watch these games are the same one who will tune in to watch PL games also, thus in turn increasing PL viewing figures. The clubs affected by this have every right to have their concerns listened to. Playing four games in 10 days should not be commonplace, and isn't in other European leagues.

The exposure from around the world through watching champions league brings your club more money. Sometimes I don’t think some of these people are actual football fans or watch it in a consistent way. In other words I agree with you

As he should. Liverpool and Klopp has been his main rivals and together with Arsenal and Manchester City and Pep has been by far the best in the league and some of the best teams in the world. You can't know and care about football and not respect that.

100% Arsenal against Bayern was a joke. Bayern rested all their players in their league games and had more rest days while Arsenal played 3 intense games in 7 days. Absolute Joke!

Yeah the Spanish Ucl and German teams have a big advantage, Madrid had 9 days rest before city game and then rested all their starters in the game inbetween the 1st and 2nd leg. Bayern also has the luxury to rest as their league was already over and their quality of opposition wasn’t good enough to require their full XI, arsenal are there having to play strong pl teams midweek that could knock them out of the title race

Arsenal are going for a league title, and bayern rested there players because they are not. Not saying its good enough by the Premier league by not accommodating them like other leagues but don't look across that fact either. If bayern were toe to toe with leverkusen then they wouldn't of rested and if arsenal were out of the league they would of done the same. Like I stated before I don't agree with the Premier league and there schedule or not accommodating there representatives but that's why bayern rested there players and not arsenal, Because they could.

Bayern rested nobody before or after arsenal! Stick with the truth… Bayern was never allowed to rest someone because of soo many injuries and they still have had an important fight betweem them and Leverkusen. Most Arsenal fans told the germans „Bayern is SHIT“ and thats why you lost, never underestimate german clubs, passion wins, not your oil money clubs with silent libaries and poot chantings

Only a true athlete listen to this guy probably plays social on a Saturday/Sunday Arvo or at best a Sunday league lmao.. I play too but get your head out your ass. Don't flex unless you're making a million playing. And you don't need to be "true" athlete to understand fatigue on the body. You just need to know cardio at the most basic level.

That's not an excuse has always been like this . But in France for example Paris and Marseille don't play the weekend because of their semifinals their matchs are postponed. But if this was applied to England other coaches would complain as the others in Ligue 1 rn .You can't satisfy everybody

Last season, City won the CL and West Ham won the Conf League. Also, there were 3 Italian teams going a long way in CL and everybody spoke about how Italian football was making a comeback. This year they were out early. Maybe we shouldnt discuss trends based on one season?

perhaps a small disadvantage, but an advantage over other leagues is definitely the oil money, which should actually ensure a broader high-quality football squad. also a question of prioritization - is it really the case that only the b-goalkeeper is used in one of the cup competitions and no major field players are given a break?

I would say EPL can stay as is, but you can take away the Carabao (or streamline the format), keeping the FA Cup intact (or also slightly streamline that). Big English teams play too many games at the highest level, which wears down players, causing fatigue, injury and loss of momentum.

Anyone who has played FM and managed in the top countries knows how much more difficult the EPL is than anywhere else. No winter break, an important, high profile EPL match, FA Cup one-off semifinal and UCL quarterfinal leg all within a 7 day stretch every single season. Truly puts City's treble last season into perspective with how ludicrously difficult it is to win those 3 competitions in the same season.

In the 1976/77 season, Liverpool played 67 games. Also bare in mind that back then you could only use 1 substitute, and they weren't playing on pitches as smooth as a bowling green. In 77/78 they played 70, and 65 the following season. Today we're expected to believe that they are playing far too many even with fewer games and 5 substitutes. Liverpool played 67 in 21/22 which saw them play in every single game possible. Not saying it's not likely to be a factor, but it begs the question, why can't they manage now when they could do it back then, and with a tiny squad by comparison

Kevin Keegan ran a 10.9 second 100m on "Superstars" which would put him in the "not so slow" category. It's honestly not that much quicker, it was less intricate and precise, but they played on pitches that resembled Sunday league games and games had to be cancelled because of frozen pitches ! AND they played more games with only 1 substitute. Look back at games from the 70's and see guys getting hacked down by flying tackles and just getting back up and carrying on. Even full blown fist fights didn't always end up as a red card. Today it's as much about staying down with any kind of contact in the hope your opponent gets a yellow card, as it is about winning the game with skill and tactics.

😅😅... I meant more the speed of play... knocking it around at the back, backpass, keeper picking the ball up etc. There was a great fitness and stamina in those players back then and they were outstandingly durable. But the modern game requires more athleticism.

Its 200% of that. Real and Barca sometimes get to rest before a CL game and psg can rest because they have no other teams in the league. Bayern aswell. Now they didnt win the league but has for years. In the exact same moment real get to rest. Teams in PL add another game. So they dont just have no rest, they add another game. So yeah, but this is a pep thing i think. He want to win it all. But you have to be smart. Play with reserves, bench players in the cups. Because they lack value anyways. And its not worth losing a game in PL or CL just because you wanna win a cup aswell

@@greeny12433I think a lot of teams were weaker last season though. There wasn't anyone even close to City apart from Arsenal who weren't in the competition. Whereas this year, Madrid in this case with Man City were much stronger. And when you think about marginal gains there is an argument to be made. But hey I'm not complaining, I prefer more games.

Its true. The accumulated fatigue is also a factor. England for some reason does not have a resting period of 3 weeks over Christmas. One of the reasons why the national team won nothing in the last 50 years. Most if not all players that play for England, also play in the PL. And they are very, very tired come June...

Those saying they have players to rotate its true, but premier is the most competitive league, usually they are fighting till the last game. In other leagues usually the leaders have a huge advantage remaining a third of the league and they would lose it only if a catastrophe happens.

Two English clubs won the champion league and conference league last season. So only excuses this time is we are not good, one being penalty shootout and three clubs trying to win the Premier league, Nothing else has changed. Other countries usually have a big gap from 1st to second place so they can rest players. Name the last England team to be Champions of the Premier league and win the champions league next season or do both in same season. It's all to do with the challenge from other England teams what makes it hard as we do not have the massive gap from first place to second like other European countries have so we can concentrate on winning European cups. More chances for a fourth place club winning the champions league as they don't have to concentrate on the league

Bullshit. City were better than Madrid over both legs. And they were without players because of injury. Arsenal Bayern could easily have gone the other way. Liverpool looked totally shattered.
