In this video I will take you through the process of installing the Hayward Aqua Rite salt system into my pool. I am using the largest salt cell available from Hayward AquaRite. The cell is a T15 cell. We will install the salt cell, flow switch, control panel and re plumb all the parts of my current pool filtration system. The Hayward AquaRite system is by far my favorite to use for making your pool a salt based pool. Salt systems are a great way to keep maintenance and pool chemicals price down. The 12 inces of straight pipe is before the float switch , not after. The cell can be counted for the 12 inches. Reference the Hayward installation guide Swim Pure Plus page 11.

Good catch, just put in a CircuPool.... they have similar instructions. I would think the flow switch would last a little longer before the cell because it wouldn't be exposed to as much chlorine... although back flow is a thing if your not running a variable speed pump 24/7.

@@Ingeanousit is supposed to go before the cell and the 12 inches is supposed to be before the flow switch. This guy installed it backwards.

Good video, but you should only twist 1/4 turn when gluing pvc. Also, you aren't saving power when using half the amps. Power (watts) is voltage x amp. Twice the voltage (220) with half the amps is still the same power. And electricity is billed on the kW-hour...so no cost savings. But still good video. This will be useful when I install the same chlorinator in my pool this summer so thanks!

Thanks for doing this video. I’m just starting my pool build and am installing this unit too. Can you expand how you brought your 220v service to the panel. Is shared from your pump 220v service? If so does it split at a junction box, timer or other?

This is awesome, thanks. One question - the Hayward manual specifies that the 12 in piece needs to be BEFORE the switch, not after, and if the switch is placed right after the salt cell, the salt cell counts for the required 12 in. Did I mis-interpret something?
@ChasesWKshop
@ChasesWKshop 2 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. I think it might be because the water coming out of the cell may be more turbulent since it’s going through the grid of the cell. Could possibly be something totally different than that too. They could have possibly changed the manual too. Hope this helps bud. Thanks for the comment!

Jeff, you are correct. In this video, what he called "the 12 inch piece" was not needed. I mean it might've been needed simply to get everything to reconnect, but not in terms of the Hayward requirement. Reason being, as you said, if it's AFTER the turbo cell, then the turbo cell counts as the 12" piece. Basically they (Hayward) want to ensure no bends in the 12 inches leading up to the flow sensor to reduce turbulence.

Hey bud, I’ve never seen one that way but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done. I went by the installation instructions and it didn’t mention a vertical direction. All of the diagrams showed it in a horizontal position.
