Thank you who ever recorded this originally. We need more reflection on the way things were more than ever today. To every hard working man and woman who struggled thru life and never complained. We all knew them.

I mean you no disrespect, but I think you misunderstand the lyrics. The coal miner in the song was murdered by "gun thugs" AKA hired private security by the mine owner. The declaration of "only a coal miner's grave" is reflective of how working class people were and still are treated as dispensable and worthless by corporate goons. The coal miner was literally killed for complaining. More than ever we need strong unions who fight for the rights of working class people like the man in the song.

@@IvanIvanoIvanovichUnfortunately, union leaders are corrupt and as greed as corporate executives. Workers are also unreasonable about pay expectations. Making $143,000 a year to bolt doors onto a SUV is asinine.

@@Gr8Layks Regardless of our differing opinions, my point was that this was a very pro-labor song and this commenter missed the point.
