The Tomahawk appeared in the comic book at least as late as issue #144, piloted by Wild Bill. 1990 Drop Zone was from Poteau, Oklahoma

To me the Tomahawk is one of the crown jewels of all G.I. Joe vehicles. I was so happy to have this one as a kid. It was my go to every time the team needed to be dropped into a mission or rescued when things got too hot. My full Tomahawk crew was Lift-Ticket and Wild Bill as pilot and co-pilot, Life Line as medic, Airborne and Crazy Legs as paratroopers, and either Duke or Stalker as field commander.

Nice review! This is definitely a top tier vehicle/figure. It's a cross between a Chinook and a Blackhawk helicopter. My Uncle flew in and out of hot zones as a combat medic in Vietnam. He rode on a Huey and was in a lot of hairy situations. He doesn't talk about it much. One day he said he would sit down and tell me about his whole experience. He also mentioned to bring a bottle of Scotch with me when I do .

The Eaglehawk has an interesting improvement in the cargo bay door: foot pegs! A figure can stand on the opened cargo bay door. Great position for a "tail gunner" like Roadblock or Rock'n'Roll. Fantastic review as usual!

I get the impression Lift Ticket never intended to go career but found his niche. He is a welcome break from those "born to do his job" types you've mentioned before (ie Hit and Run). It's kind of refreshing to see a Joe that isn't perfect, that maybe underestimated what they could do but still made the most of it.

I know I'm way late commenting here, but the Tomahawk will always be 1A to the Dragonfly's 1B in terms of my favorite G.I. Joe vehicles. I still have my original, relatively well-maintained, which was the pride and joy of my childhood collection. I got it as a birthday present, and when we went Lionel they didn't even have one on the shelf. While a store employee went back to the stock room to see if the delivery truck had been unloaded yet, my dad asked me if I wanted the HAVOC on the shelf instead. I said no, and that was the single best Joe buying decision of my young life. The Tomahawk is one of the most versatile and iconic vehicles of the entire vintage line. Now if only I still had that mic... Haha!

Great review of the Tomahawk, HCC! Christmas 1986 was an extremely G.I. Joe-centric one and the Tomahawk was easily the coolest out of everything I had gotten. The only problem I really had as a kid was the same thing that still is an issue with me today. The overall size of it made it an absolute pain in the ass to play with what with me being in a wheelchair. Don't get me wrong, it was a fantastic toy but that was genuinely something that I found to be a problem for me.

Great review!! The tomahawk was the last gijoe toy i got for King's day (I'm from Dominican Republic, and here we get our christmas presents on January 6th) I got it incomplete missing the chin gun, a blade, and a rear stabilizer, but I played a lot with this toy, Today i still have it in my collection, and took me a long time to get all the missing parts, All I'm missing now is 2 blades and the chin gun sensor cover. Anyway I love your channel and I'm looking to start an spanish languaje channel for all latin gijoe fans out there!!

...C'mon, man. The Patriots have won 2 Super Bowls since the Colts pulled their gamesmanship. There are envious, small men in the Colts and Jets organizations who, confronted with a system of football they could not defeat on the field, decided to try to besmirch the reputation of the ones who keep beating them. Are you a proponent of Deflategate? Then I invite you to read this story from the New York Times, and particularly this paragraph: "He (Professor John Leonard or MIT) )is hardly the only scientist to take that position. As Dan Wetzel pointed out in a recent Yahoo Sports column, scientists at Carnegie Mellon, the University of Chicago, Boston College, Rockefeller University, the University of Illinois and Bowdoin College - and others - have all come to the same conclusion." www.nytimes.com/2016/01/23/sports/football/nfl-ignores-ball-deflation-science-at-new-england-patriots-expense.html Perhaps Spygate is more your flavor? In that case, remember that the actual "scandal" was that the Patriots personnel videotaped from the wrong place. Allegations of filming other teams' practices were retracted by the newspaper which reported the story (the Boston Herald, which is not considered the most reputable newspaper by Boston natives in the first place and had their own sour grapes about Brady because some of their columnists had been heavily on the Bledsoe bandwagon back when Brady replaced Bledsoe full-time, and then kept proposing alternate QBs like Michael Bishop instead of Brady. When you consider Patriots scandals, look at the people who hype up the scandals instead - they are trying to cover up their own shortcomings or use NFL politics to win games instead of excellence on the field, not find justice.

Sliding down the lines while the helicopter is hovering is called "fast roping" which is different from "repelling" because you don't have a harness and link to attach to the line. The fast rope line if much thicker and not a double line like a repel line, you basically slide down it like a fire pole. Blackhawk Down has a good scene showing how Rangers used this technique in a cityscape.

Actually Hoodie Coco, Drop Zone from the Sky Patrol sub-team is also from Oklahoma. I do remember getting this as a kid and i really liked it. I made my own line and would have characters repel down from the chopper on missions. This to me was one of the highlights of the 1986 line of vehicles.

The thing I appreciate about the tomahawk that is a small ish detail that I also appreciate about arah gi joe vehicles in general is the rivets. The tomahawk has the best example I can think of off hand though as you can see how the panels interlock by where the rivets are. I’d imagine the designers had some knowledge about aircraft panel construction. Just one of the very many qualities that even my kids notice and are a bit jealous of compared to their more modern toys. Shame most vintage hasbro plastic is like egg shells now so it’s not generally a good idea to play with them very hard anymore.

yeah, that smirk really ruins the action figure. I disliked it, to include having two pistols, and so much side gear pockets. That is what a flight vest is for. the knife, I get, and the lower pockets on the legs, yes. They just should have given LIft-Ticket the standard US Army Aviation uniform, with a flight jacket. They did too much when it was not necessary.

Saw this on shelves, back then. No real desire to get it until I saw it out of box a few years later. Parents' friend's youngest son had one, I played with it a bit with him (10+ between him and next eldest sibling) while visiting them near Sedalia (NO neighbors), realized what I missed out on. I threatened to take it home, he didn't think that was funny. I did have a chance to get one about 2012-?, former friend moving out of state, the boys had a box of toys to give to their nieces or Goodwill. They had the re-issue and a Turboman. I almost took the choppa, but I had already moved on to 6" Marvel and DC, phased out of 1/18 scale MU and Joes. Also, no LEFT-Ticket jokes? come on! LOL

Excellent review of one of the all time best G.I.Joe toys. I didn't have my own Tomahawk until quite recently, when a very kind guy gave me his, but it strikes me that the Tomahawk really is a must have because it can be used in pretty much any G.I.Joe play scenario. A special missions team is always going to need to be dropped off, picked up, resupplied, or some air support and the Tomahawk can do all these things. I do wish the Tomahawk were just a little bigger and had side doors, but considering all the play features already included, it's definitely a top shelf piece of hardware. I'll also gently suggest that the Tomahawk may be closer in both size and design to the CH-46 Sea Knight, which was less well known and less widely used than the larger CH -47.

Hail Hooded Cobra Commander 788!!! Kudos to you for a video well done!! Funny how in the animated series the Tomahawk had sliding cargo doors. I guess tge the manufacturers were too busy spitting out the toys that they forgot to make to make the doors. Thank goodness for those door mounted machine guns. But even so, an open cargo bay is great target. Of course Cobra ground troops are like Stormtroopers from Star Wars; tney cannot shoot straight. As fir the name, unlike the Joe Dragonfly, all military helicopters were named after native American Indian tribes, and the BGM-109 land attack missile was named Tomahawk. Keep up the great work you do for this channel!!!!

Great Review! I have the Tomahawk. My BIGGEST complaints 1) were that the blades were not removable, and drooped within time. As you stated, the Blades make it hard to be put in a box. Even IF you find a box big enough, the blades will still droop down. 2)More seats needed to be added. 3)the Ramp should have more practical. I don't recall Lift-Ticket communicator mouthpiece, falling out so much. Ironically, I would go to serve in a Huey Flight platoon in the early 1990s overseas. While I was not a pilot, I had the same mentality as Lift-Ticket(in that there is life after the military).

Another problem I had, was that Hasbro should have created released a 3-4 pack of Lift -Ticket action figures, so that the Tomahawk, would have a Co-pilot, Crew Chief, & Door Gunner. Granted, Wild Bill could be the Co-pilot and anyone can be the door gunner, but not everyone can be the Crew Chief. Also, the Co-pilot should have the same look that sort of fits Lift-Ticket.

Forget drooping blades; a pair of thin acrylic discs with a 'spinning rotor' pattern on the top would fit snugly over the rotorheads and rotate with them. This idea could be made for the vintage OR the new TOMAHAWK choppers!

9.5 out of 10 toy. Vintage 1982 to 1986 beats flimsy built modern. Modern has details but so light and flimsy. Figures can't rappel down a rope without body drooping, and can't hold rope correctly like vintage. If I can only get a good canopy glass for my Tomahawk. Solid review.

I have the Eaglehawk. You're not missing out on much. The seats are not removable on it, which is a bit lame, they also provide no clips, seat belts, or back pegs to secure figures with, which is also a little lame. That said, at the time, it was a decent alternative to spending the money for a vintage one, but these days you might as well just get a vintage one if you're in the market for it.

I really enjoyed the GI Joe tomahawk a vehicle given to me by my brothers it was in the best shape when I got it but I enjoyed that helicopter I usually handle Wild Bill flying it cuz I don't know what happened to lift ticket in I'll always put guys like gun hole bazooka snake eyes wetsuit just to name a few of my GI Joes

Have you seen the gi Joe retaliation line eagle hawk? It's a complete reissue of the tomahawk I'd say it's about as great as the tomahawk but with some updates but it's a really great toy actually arguably better than the 86 tomahawk even thought it's virtually the same but why not take a look at it 😀

Even if its not original I would glue the microphone in. There are tacky glues that come loose easily.

Again, I noticed you glossed over the GI Joe Animated Movie, where Lift Ticket actually had some decent screen time as well as the Tomahawk. Seriously, have you even watched that movie? Dispite the monster movie plot points that for some reason a lot of people get hang ups about, it really did showcase a lot of joes pretty well (Well except for Snake Eyes, he kinda got owned every time he was shown practically)

I lost that microphone the same day I got it. I dont know where I dropped it and it was gone. I improvised with other ones I found. BTW my cousin and play partner always thought that Lift Ticket looked like Pee Wee Herman
