This is none of my own tanks. In this video you can see a fish tank of a Zoo Aquarium called "Aquazoo-Löbbecke Museum Düsseldorf".
We have videos of many tanks of this zoo.

The population of this tank:
- Silver arowana / Arowana (Osteoglossum bicirrhosum)
- Red Tailed Catfish / Panzerkopf-, Rotflossenfadenwels Rotflossenantennenwels (Phractocephalus hemiliopterus)
- Black pacu / Schwarze Pacu oder Mühlsteinsalmler, portugiesisch Tambaqui, (Colossoma macropomum)
- Black Banded Leporinus / Grüner Leoprinus, Gebänderter Leoprinus (Leporinus fasciatus)
- Silver dollar / Scheibensalmler, Silberner Mühlsteinsalmler (Metynnis argenteus)
- Bolt Catfish / k.A. (Aguarunichthys torosus)

Yes people, he does have bad drop eye...possibly even pop-eye but that doesn't mean they are 100% overfed. I can see why looking down constantly might be a culprit here as there are a lot of pond mates swimming much lower as well as genetics. My aro xis 2 ft and has a slight drop eye and I definitely don't overfeed...also he has never had feeder fish or other fatty foods. It just happens from their breeding sometimes Hopefully, you know a fish doc that can do the eye surgery for these fellows as that might be the best course of action now. . These are amazing huge fish and a beautiful home.

what you all need to understand on the subject of dropeye, these arowana are more than likely not raised from fry at this aquazoo, most of them will be of owners who had them in small environments. these fish are happy healthy and beautiful, and as to the size, who cares, they're big.

These are large Arowana's..maybe 3'. But I've seen TRUE 4 FOOT AROWANA'S. And their bodys get much deeper..heads too. They become even more prehistoric looking. 48" Arowana's are magnificent fish. Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco in the 80's had a few in a 10,000 gallon aquarium..maybe 20,000 as it was wide also. Even the Arowana they have now in 2019 in their biggest freshwater tank 100,000 gallons of rainforest habitat, are not equal to the old monarchs.

i really dont like it when people say, this fish is this size, or this size, without measuring it or using a point of reference. i doubt they are 4 ft. they do have drop eye, but almost all do, even wild ones. fatty diet and poor feeding habits are main causes. some fish end up with it anyway. these are great looking aro's,and the owner has the right idea with keeping them in a huge amount of water. great vid.

Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco had old 4 foot Arowana's..and I've never seen any come close to those in a home aquarium. Immense and majestic fish. Had to be in the 15 year old range.

These in this vid are NOT 4 footers. Big Arowana like I saw at the old Steinhart Aquarium were also very deep in body front to back..not the taper on these ordinary 2'+ plus fish. I see lots of claims on fish size when the owners own vids contradicts what they say. There are no 24" C.d dovvi either!

The public Aquariums tank had to be over 10,000 gallons,maybe double. It had 8' Alligator Gars also!

Arowana's also can get that from jumping into the cover..you see that and mouth wounds. Public Aquariums have gotten drop eyed fish also,that I've seen. I think its mostly water quality..high bacteria. Maybe try UV filters.

arowanas' usually get dropeye in one eye only. lots of speculation on how it develops. some believe, in captivity the fish doesnt look up enough for food as it would in the wild, others believe a fatty tissue can buildup behind the eye from overfeeding, or feeding fatty foods, and some say its from striking an object hard. i got my aro at 3 inches and he already had dropeye in the left eye.

I spend half of my time thinking about hypothetical tank setups and then when I have room I can go to a store and pick out fish already knowing about them. like my south American leaf fish setup that has two bunocephlus in it! I know about your aros I watch your channel why no more vids?

I dont do much DIY all my tanks are running well with out any more gear tho I would like another power head for the 75 G I feel that the FX5 isnt enought flow. you got to put it in perspective ive seen alot of vids of wild fish and even apistos live in rivers with currents and make out tank filters look pathetic. I have the FX5 and a 280 gph power head running on the tank. all my fish are fine they like it its just a matter of them building the wild muscles

@10kpondguy im pretty sure no3lzz fils at aquariums so.....apart from the one with drop eye those are some great looking aros if I ever had aros (black aro) I would have a huge current going throught the tank because they are muscular fish despite not living in fast currents (dry season) and they would have no jumping room in captivity and I would have them on a lean diet probably earth worms (60% protein) with a some sort of a pellet base. im just having fun speculating.

The Boey Right, becuase drop is so medically serious that it is a dangerous health problem. Most zoos get there animals mostly from donation, or confiscations. Most of them may have a already had drop eye from the start when the zoo obtained them, but if you really what a good silver arowana, aim for the wild ones.

@nicofish1000 ive had two aros(silvers) one was two feet, and the one i have now is almost there. im not intending to insult anyone. just an opinion. i agree, great looking silvers. i hope to have mine in a larger tank very soon. indeed, they do need current, otherwise they get lethargic. i feed mine only large cichlid pellet/koi food treat. speculating is half the fun of the hobby. usually leads to learning something new. lol

I really like the pond! they're beautiful! not so healthy, though :c I think you should change their diet or feed them less and they'll be much better off :^) they're overweight and some have dropeye. arowanas get dropeye from a high fat diet, genetics, or environment. By environment, I mean they get it from looking down at the bottom too much if there is something distracting, like sunlight or lights reflecting off the bottom. That's probably not the problem in your pond, though. cause its a pond haha. so unless some of them are inbred or have bad genetics, the dropeye is probably from overfeeding c: take care, have a good day!

Lee Lynne your wrong, nothing has been proven about this, I have an Arowana and I don’t feed it any fatty foods and there is nothing else in the tank. He still has a drop eye. And if it was from fatty foods or the environment, it wouldn’t just be one eye. One only two of the fish. It would be all of the fish on all of the eyes

This is a tank from Shedd aquarium. I went there yesterday and one of the arowanas has the same drop eye in this video, (I think)
