Hi, there is really no "best day" to watch the aurora. they are there generally almost everyday, but will be more active when there are major solar events like solar flares. however march is a good time as you get a good amount of night time. summer's night are too short and not dark enough for the aurora generally. that said, i was in fairbanks for 3 days and WIsemen for 4 days. but only 1 night where we get very little activity.. it just appears to be a light green bend in the sky that doesn't do anything... you can check out the aurora forecast from the website here.
