How could anything they have done this whole olympics merited a 4th place finish?

Thank you for these videos from Nagano. The errors they made in both this dance and the golden waltz should've put any stories of an agenda against them to rest. Considering that he keeps his free foot on the ice just before his counter and her twizzle actually wasn't a twizzle since she does them on 2 feet (coming off of a left forward outside edge that went very flat for her), I thought they were marked very generously. A medal of any kind would've been generous.

@@azbycx56 Yes, her back outside crossrolls were strong, much more so than Krylova's. But it seemed like they were the only ones who could not skate their counters or their twizzles properly in this dance.

@@211jump What I find so odd was that B&K were being coached by Natalia Dubova during this time. She should've been able to see that they were skating this dance incorrectly in many sections. Some skating fans think that she went senile over time because she lost so many great skaters over the years due to her coaching politics. She alienated and pushed away amazing skaters like Klimova & Ponomarenko, Grishuk & Platov, and Tatiana Navka. And they all became Olympic champions after leaving her and skating under a different trainer. All because of her over the top love for Maia Usova.

@@211jump Yes. This dance needs to be skated with a good amount of crispness as it is a tango. These two just didn't quite have that as their timing was too lazy.

@@211jump The Canadian media was crying foul about it from the get-go and a lot of skating fans who don't know much about the ins and outs of skating bought into it.

@@211jump I'm not sure if the video is on youtube but they skated this compulsory dance at the 1995 Worlds and based on what I remember (which may be faulty as it's been many many years since I've watched it), it was much better than the one they skated here at the 1998 Olympics. Like I said before in other videos, they made such fantastic improvements with their skating in 1995 but then regressed afterwards when they switched coaches to Natalia Dubova.

This was just atricious.. Victor skated his counter wrong both times, and he look shaky the whole dance... Shae Lynn seemed to be playing catch up the whole and time, and her twizzles were horrible. I would have them in 10th Place after this dance, including their Golden Waltz.
