In this video we see a sort of rare local move along the eastern side of the former Maine Central Mountain Division - between Mountain Jct. in Portland and the Sappi Mill in Westbrook. This was my first time getting a freight move on film on that line - which was really exciting!
0:00 - 2:30 - PO-1 w/ B&M 334 heads across Main Street in Westbrook, Maine with two tankers for Sappi.
2:56 - 4:12 - PO-1 arrives at Sappi and is seen passing some tanker that says it was built in the 1950's and looks like its been sitting there for quite a number of years!
4:21 - After switching out Sappi and stopping for a break at Main Street in downtown Westbrook, the short December days mean it is dark for the chase back to Rigby. We catch PO-1 crossing Larrabee Road in Portland finally after a long wait. They have two tankers and one hopper from Sappi.
5:42 - PO-1 heads through the Amtrak Station in Portland.
6:55 - PO-1 leaves its consist on the East End switching lead of Rigby Yard - and uses Track 107 to run around the cars and kick them onto a yard track. Then they go to the House Track to tie down and end the day.
MEC 348 is coupled to a cut of cars on the east end. Seen in the video.
PO-2 w/ MEC 373 is also switching the east end of the yard at this time.
Watch in 1080p for best quality.
Thanks for watching. Enjoy!
