In 2016 were we still flying 30+gram 1s whoops? Now we have 18-19gram whoops.

I think it's a pity that there are hardly any 2s whoops at the moment. Why is the trend going more and more towards 1s whoops? I find that 2s whoops are more universal and can also be flown well in the garden and around the house.

85 for outside will be a better performer, but super challenging inside. You have inside covered with your 75

there is two ways, the goggles/vrx will record the video if we have pressed the button to record the flight. This recording is stored on the sd card within the vrx or goggles. We do have to supply the sd card and select the record button for there to be a recording. The second way is the storage onboard. The walksnail vtx comes with a usb cable where the other end has a small connector. We connect that to a computer and can view and or copy the recording from the onboard storage with a computer. Again we have to have selected to record the flight from the goggles or vrx. If your flying line of sight without goggles I don't believe there is a way to initiate a recording and thus there won't be a recording.

No frames with 3 holes? Maybe just out of whoop frames?

Thank you. My recollection is yes. We haven't seen a quad that doesn't turtle mode in a long while. Of course there are limits to it. In most cases if we have a flat surface it will turtle fine, if one or more prop is obstructed it won't likely turtle. further smaller quads in grass or brush that might not be obstructing props but isn't flat can have trouble as they likely need to cut the brush/grass to a certain degree to flip over.

Short answer is no. I have tinkered with adding an external 5v regulator.

smaller is more manageable inside. 85 gets pretty big and fast.

That is an option, I am not comfortable with that as if we crash the battery won't be held as securly and batty rejection can pull on the pads on the AIO, which could result in damage requiring a new AIO.

@@NickBurnsFPV So far I haven't crashed hard enough to even move a battery in the holder, but I don't fly as fast you indoors! The BFPV 550s do fit a little looser once the holders have been spread with fatter batteries. On my AIO, the battery wires are soldered into through holes, so I think the connector will unplug before the wires pull out.

Sorry I don't recall that detail. I presume it had betaflight 4.3.x. Yours could have been older due to a manufacturing/assembly mistake or maybe the reseller had it on the shelf and didn't rotate inventory with the first in first out rotation. I would presume its most likely an assembly mistake as My early version likely had a newer version of betaflight.

I presume your going to upgrade the linear antenna to a circularly polarized antenna? That sort of "upgrade" will have a minor impact depending on the flight environment. This or something like it should fit the bill pyrodrone.com/collections/5-8ghz/products/singularity-5-8-u-fl-short-lhcp

All flight footage in this one is from vtx. Good call out I failed to tag it. I don’t change camera setting unless required. I switch goggles to 720p high frame rate. No camera changes

No, this is the walksnail video system it is not compatible with dji, and dji doesn't have hdmi input to run the walksnail vrx.

no because it is running a 1s lipo so the motor amp pull is safe. Also 5amp esc is 5amp per motor/esc so 5x4=20amp esc.

Angle mode does making flying a bit more simple, if you haven't tried angle mode maybe that will help. Otherwise its down to practice.

It will but to a lesser degree. I believe I verbalize my thoughts in the video with a bit more detail.

In the 75 category the pro version is harder as it’s not 75mm motor to motor but 82mm motor to motor and weighs more. I highly suggest for analog to go true 75mm or 65mm pro

I have both the vrx and the fatshark dominator HD for walksnail. I like to be able to remove the vrx when not in use.

​@Nick Burns wow that makes the flying all the more impressive with so much latency. Outdoors it's not as big a deal but you really notice it inside.

This is the pro version which is bigger than 75mm mtm, and runs 45mm props. This combo inside is going to be more challenging inside than a traditional 75mm mtm 40mm propped whoop which I think will be better overall for indoor and outdoor use.

I have had one other person report they don’t have brownouts. It could have been the betafpv batteries or the 5v regulator on mine wasn’t working normally after all my indoor crashing. I would like to have more confirmation though. I did take it out again today as it was so nice, I found a less fast 100% throttle movement was handled normally. In my video I was punching it quick…not smooth.

There is a mobula7 walksnail version as well as a mobula6 walksnail. I haven't bought a 5v regulator in a long while I would just google "pololu 5v regulator"

Could you provide a recommended link or more accurate description of which one I need? I am going to do this to this whoop drone and also to the Happy Model Mobilite 7 Walksnail if needed.

@@rcplayland This should be fine and small. www.pololu.com/product/2843 key points in the "features section". Input voltage 3v-36v, select output 5v which will work with HDzero whoop vtx as well as walksnail whoop/1s

The latency is a pretty minor issue for me. I find if I am flying inside and switching back and forth between analog and hd I notice it, but otherwise its a non issue for me.

@@NickBurnsFPV You fly fasr tight lines, hopefully it's that way for me, but with a 5 inch it may be more noticeable. Have you had any goggle issues using the modules? I'm pretty sure it's trying to kill the cheap hdmi bd in my old fatshark doms, it also makes the screens not work for analog, power cycling, and waiting a few minutes both come back, I did it twice to confirm, but I'm not pushing it since I still have analog that works. Do you know if the hdmi bd goes out if the analog still works, or does it shut the screens down?

@@RCOverKill I haven't had hdmi issues, but I am using the hdzero goggles or the testing on skyzone goggles. I have read many have trouble with hdmi and fatshark goggles. I don't believe analog is impacted if hdmi dead or dies. At least I have not read about analog failing in such a senario

Really the issue comes down to motors. Often the kv between 1s and 2s is so wide that on 1s its super slow almost nearly boring to unfun, then on 2s it is much more like our modern day micros.

Yup. When it went to black I had no idea where it landed in that area, on the roof, neighbors roof, grass, bush etc. thankfully the video did come back and it was easier to identify where it was

@@NickBurnsFPV I'm glad it came back 👍 Not knowing where your drone is isn't as fun as hide n seek. I equip loud beepers that has a bright strobe light that runs on external tiny battery if your battery pack runs too low.

I would need much more information. Inside, outside, what does "best" mean to you? Cheapest, longest flight time, most performance, most durable, inside flight, outside flight, hd, or analog. I have yet to find a RTF kit that doesn't have at least one shortcoming.

very short: 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s....the number is refering to cell count and that will translate to voltage. Generally speaking, 1s = 4.2volts, 2s = 8.4volts etc. If we plug in a 2s battery to a quad designed to run 1s we burn/destroy something, either flight controller or esc, maybe even motors. Some components are compatible for a range of cell counts, but it's rare a quad overall is compatible with a range of cell counts/voltages.

@@mark6302 that is very strange. not sure I have heard that before. check the power and battery tab of betaflight and see what is has there. Maybe the max voltage is set to less than 4.35 and that could cause the low voltage to be displayed on a full battery.

Happymodel is pretty much the only company that pushes the weight down. I am not sure why others don’t, speculate it’s not important to them or lack the knowledge, or supporting😂 ultralight whoops. Myself when I get my build weigh down super low I end up with it broken before it makes its way into a video.
