After watching your video, I bought a 1080p / 60 version and I am very pleased. I am sending the signal from the Android Box to the TV on a 30 m long Cat 6 cable. In my opinion, there is no difference compared to a direct connection with an HDMI cable. Thanks for this video it was very helpful. Greetings from Poland.

I used this to pipe the video from my server in the basement to my monitor in my office. I then installed a GPU riser so I could connect a full size graphics card to a 1U Dell PowerEdge. Specs: 2 8 core 3.5 GHz Opteron CPUs 128 GB of DDR3 RAM 256 GB SSD (OS) 1 TB SSD (storage) GTX 1060 6 GB GPU 2k Dell Display I’ll upgrade to the 4k version of this extender in the future. But the proof of concept works. This would be perfect for connecting a ceiling mounted 1080p projector.

I used an extender that looks just like this but without the PWAY logo. Used with cheap and nasty CAT5E. Worked fine over 30m to a splitter/duplicator that then sent another 10m to one unit and 3m to another. Trying a much longer cable didn't work - the picture broke up. You might make it to 50m with good CAT6 cable but I don't have any.

Can this be used via a network switch? Or does the sender and receiver need to be wired direct to each other?

In theory, could you hook up an hdmi hub (multip hdmi inputs, 1 hdmi output) to this and run it through Ethernet to the tv and then switch between input at will?

@rogerdabeast

Have you tested it through a patch panel? That is, patch cable from hdmi sender to wall, wall cable to patch panel, patch cable at panel feeding to other wall socket, wall cable to destination socket, then patch cable from wall socket to receiver? All cable cat 6 and tested. I found in my tests, with a competitor version of this, that it failed and would only work if the cat 5 cable is continuous with a plug on each end.

@patrickquick4340
@patrickquick4340 2 ай бұрын
@@KarvidSR It definitely won't go via a router or switch. It uses the 8 connectors in its own way and is not HDMI over IP. I'm surprised that it didn't work through a patch panel as all connectors should just go straight through - that's the whole point of such cabling, so any use you want can be made of the 8 connectors - e.g. serial link for router 'console cable'. I'd better try that arrangement myself!

@@LowDoughTech Thank you for this clarification. My house is also fully wired with ethernet and I was also wondering whether it would work with a switch in the middle. Now I'm wondering if it would be possible to use an ethernet splitter in one of the outlets to be able to connect both a switch (to provide internet connection to other devices), and one of these HDMI over Ethernet devices (that way the HDMI signal would not have to go through the switch). Would this setup work?

I know this is late but, @@albertomartin101 no it won't work through a switch. But if you locate the 2 CAT5 cables on the switch, unplug them, and then use a "CAT5 coupler" to connect them together, it will work (if the length of cable is not to far). And using an ethernet splitter won't work because the device uses more than 2 pairs of wires for video/audio/power.

You’ll need an HDMI switch. Combine the two and you’ll be able to connect multiple devices to one TV with an extended cable run. I.E. Blu-ray player, Cable box, and karaoke machine connected to one TV on the wall. The beautiful part is that you’d be able to switch between the hdmi sources without unplugging a cable and switching it. Very helpful for ceiling mounted projectors or hard to reach TVs.
