I had a bit difficulty in detecting signal with my projector, but at the end I figured out a workaround and it's working well now. I just added the link in the description of this video.

Called HDMI to VGA converter/adapter. Before you order one, make sure you read the issues already discussed in the comments.

It's really hard to tell. As you have seen, HDMI is not always like HDMI. If you are intending to keep your projector it's worth to take the risk. Just like my case, the converter can't serve what I intended to. But my projector has to go with the adapter anyway because all future devices will be HDMI only.

I don't think hdmi output is enabled in android devices by default. Android comes with a small app preinstalled called HDMI switch. You have to open this app and select the display device (panel which is the phone, 720p or 1080p on the external monitor) Also in settings you can choose whether you want a dual display, or whether you want the external monitor to be the only display.

Thanks, I'll check that. The reason I chose HDMI to VGA, because I already have a MHL to HDMI and I can use it for other devices too, e.g. Blueray player etc.

I've bought one and connected it to my phone and it works fine. the only thing i can see that you haven't done it supply it with a 5V DC connection which it requires if you read the manual

I wish I can help. As you have seen on my video, I learned the lesson HDMI is not always equal HDMI. My MHL adapter is working fine directly to TV. But the converter was unable to convert its output.

HDMI TO DVI is only a cable. you can get those from ebay for under 10 dollars. BUT HDMI TO VGA is not simple as it is. You actually need pricy converter not those cheap ones. Go to Bestbuy and check it out.

Yes, MHL converter isn't compatible with your cellphone, I tried it befor on my Galaxy Note an MHL converter since didn't work, I exchanged it for one, which did the job.

After iwanthalo3 made a comment below about HDCP I did search for a new adapter with HDCP support. I couldn't find what I want at the time. Recently, I search it on ebay again, I found a MHL to VGA for my S2. I should receive it today and do a test soon.

thanks for the reply, the power for the signal is coming from the MHL to HDMI! This is the cable that goes from the HDMI to VGA. but maybe it needs extra power to change the signal to a HDCP understandable signal. with like a converter box?! i have see some on dx.com.

this most likely means that the adapter does not support the HDCP component of HDMI, required by the PS3, and potentially this guy's samsung galaxy s2, maybe even the galaxy s3 some are wondering about.

But my MHL works on a HDMI TV perfectly, no setup on my phone required, just plug & play. Hm, I can't find an app called HDMI switch on my phone. In fact, it's a good idea to try some apps whether they can work around the problem. Thank you for the idea :-)

Answer this please: I recently bought an R9 390X graphics card and I want to connect it to my TV (I use my TV as my gaming monitor). The said graphics card has the following connectors: - DVI Port (DVI-D Dual) - HDMI - Triple Display Ports The monitor has only 2 types of connector that I can use: - VGA - HDMI So naturally since both the graphics card and the TV / Monitor has HDMI, I used HDMI. During the BIOS load, the resolution is totally whacked! I can't see the whole display (Like the monitor is too small) And finally after the Bios, Windows 10 will load, but then my screen will turn blue and give me an "INVALID FORMAT" message. I'm thinking of 2 solutions, - 1 Get a converter (HDMI to VGA) or (DVID-D Dual - VGA) - Worse case scenario.......Get a new monitor, because I think my TV / Monitor cannot support the resolution. Anyways.... if anybody of you have a suggestion. I'd gladly appreciate it.

Hi, We have a projector installed on the ceiling and it was connected to 150 ft vga externsion cable [50 ft + 100 ft]. My laptop [Spectre x360] doesn't have vga, only hdmi input. So I bought this [J5create VGA to HMDI] product. When I used this , my laptop doesn't recognize it [display settings] and keeps on blocking out. Should I replace J5create product or maybe there's problem on the extension cable? Other laptop [w/vga included] works fine. All I need is video to show the lyrics for our church. Hi I need help! I brought a hdmi to vga converter and tried it from my laptop to monitor and it worked perfectly. Then I tried it from my ps3 to monitor and nothing just a blank screen ( I've tried holding the button down intill it beeped twice ) nothing works. This is the wrong adaptor for phone/tablet. The right one should have usb power supplied to it. The HDMI-VGA you used is specially for PC/Laptop which has enough power to run it; it won't run from phone/tablet.

I have a all in one computer monitor that has 4 four com ports (VGA) and 2 HDMI ports. I have a medical device with an HDMI output port that I want to use to connect to my 22" AIO and use the monitor to display the image enlarge from the medical device. I can't transfer the image via HDMI to HDMI as I believe the port on the All in one computer monitor is outgoing only. If I use an HDMI to VGA adapter, do the existing VGA ports have to be IN and will that solve the problem so I can display the image on the AIO?

you can't connect hdmi to vga with audio. VGA ports cant deliver sound to your system so basically you've been scammed :(
