How would you feel if you caught yourself in it and spent a night in real pain! It might be the same as cancer pain! Because that’s what happens to people who are cruel ! It will come back on you. Cruel bastard. Why not shoot the animals if they bother you that much.

@@rockbantam ignorance of what is happening is what you are showing the world here.There is no indication of any pain exhibited by coyotes caught in laminated,offset traps-most times they are discovered sound asleep when the trapper checks the trap.Most trappers have been caught in the traps and they just don't hurt,look around at the many videos showing this. The sport/vocation is highly regulated for the ethical treatment of the animals. Trapper animals are treated better by trappers than farmed chickens are treated. A reason why trapping is required believe it or not is due to you and everyone else, people always take the most productive land for themselves,firstly for building on and then for farming in order to feed the people in city's/towns for the most part displacing the native animals into ever shrinking ranges that can not support the numbers displaced. That requires management of those numbers to keep the population healthy of not only coyotes but all wild species.

In Pa it seems like the more you catch the more pups they have. The population of yotes has a direct connection to the population of deer. When they exhaust the deer the yotes will move on and be gone for a few years until the deer recover. They eat a lot of turkey and ground hogs rabbit

You were spot on with the more you trap the more pups they have. Meat eater podcast had on a fellow who discussed this I can’t remember the guys name but it was one of the earlier podcasts. The guy said there’s evidence that shows coyotes can determine population sizes in their area and it changes the size of the litter based on population density. Check out the podcast.

Ok, it's a walk-thru hay set. Cool idea... Sweet location. So explain how this is eliminating the freeze issue. He's bedding the trap right in that wet soil. Granted the hay won't freeze, but that soil will. How that bypasses the need for antifreeze or waxed dirt.... You get down below freezing... Frozen solid.

Can also use horse manure, it does not freeze the ground! That's what we use! We also use wax paper over the pan and under the jaws with a split in middle to go around tongue so nothing will fall down under pan! The straw will help hide human smell!

Not a trapper but enjoy both the fishing and trapping videos. FWIW, the collaboration with and filming of how other trappers do it, especially one as successful as Cody, is good for the channel. Coyotes are Wiley beasts, no pun intended, so it is pretty fascinating to see how they are outsmarted and turned into a pelt, rather than a pesky wild carnivore. Nice video!😊
@lukasbejcek8841
@lukasbejcek8841 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Bryant, exactly my thoughts! I have several pelts hanging on the walls (foxes, a badger, a hog... /not a coyote but I wear a coyote fur trim/) and I love how these wild pest beasts can be turned into something soft, tidy-looking, which is hanging on my wall peacefully. A wild predator is killed, skinned and now can’t harm nobody, serves just to humans’ pleasure. It is not only a nice decoration for me but it also gives me pride of trappers or hunters who hunted these beasts and turned em into something useful. I am not a trapper too, but I am glad I can support their job with buying the results of their hard work from time to time 😊. These beasts are nasty but traps and guns are powerful! I love hunting and trapping videos too. And I like Coon Creek Outdoors - it shows a trapper can be a sympathic friendly young man not only a bearded weirdo! Do you collects pelts, hides or trophies etc too?

I would imagine the straw soaks up a lot of the moisture from the ground and so it doesn’t freeze very easily. I would also assume that the straw there’s a little bit to divert rain. I don’t know this for a fact, but I’m just assuming based on how the material is.

Man I gotta differ with you on the short chain not pumping the stake out statement you made. Longer chains will pull sideways on the stake NOT upward. With a short chain the animal can direct the force upward over the trap and stake thus eventually pulling the stake out as they fight the trap. I understand the arguments on longer chains vs. shorter and how they get more/less leverage from room to lunge. Just another aspect of trapping that will always be debated. Anyway keep up the great vids. Peace

You’re right on this. I use rebar 75% of the time with short chains (8”). I do have a lot of stakes “pumped” out of the ground up to 8”-10” out from coyotes.

Agree on short chain pumping. I think he may have just made a mistake in words. He’s been trapping a long time. The longer the chain,the less possibility of your stake failing. I went to cable stakes a few years back and now they’re my main staking system, however I was brought up on rebar.
@shaynefreeman5473
@shaynefreeman5473 3 жыл бұрын
Here is what I have found on my traplines. Short chain, run a long stake, long chain you can get away with a shorter stake. They can all get pumped up but shorter chain seems to pump up more.
@coonanfox01
@coonanfox01 3 жыл бұрын
I think we can all agree that each location determines how we stake. I personally use all 16" cable stakes with 8" chains. I think when an animal has lots of chain to get a running start that more foot damage occurs and causes more stress to the animal which makes it fight even harder. I believe we owe it to the animal to keep the damage to a minimum. The less ammunition the anti-trappers have against us the better off we are.

Call them chaff pile sets here in N.C. I always set those usually with 2 sets , caught many doubles like that. Field mice use these chaff piles and coyotes know it.. Even after the last cut of the year if there is no chaffing you can bring some before season begins and let it sit. Come back later and set it when season begins.. Pipe dream sets work well in chaff. Good video Stu 👍

I’ve been using your ideas to catch coyote. I have lost a dozen good laying hens to coyotes. If I hang the carcass of a coyote near my henhouse, will that detract other coyotes from killing my chickens? I really enjoy your videos. I have learned a lot.

always used a double hook drag with a 6/8 ft chain. Used number 4 double long spring Newhouse traps. I always trapped west texas with very little moisture. My best trapping was along roads. Animals look for road kill or food thrown out from vehicles.

Don't you notice that each of those coyotes that you slaughtered were sentient and living, and they were killed needlessly when they did not want to die. 🌱
